Great looking images Kim. They should be fun to work with.

Thanks, Joe - Make me proud!
I've added another photo to make the crop challenge a little more user friendly, though I think Seachelle and Bill's images are both very imaginative!
(Sorry, Bill, if I caused any permanent damage to that brain cell! I'd replace it with one of mine if I had any! ;))

Oh, poor Bill! No wonder you couldn't contribute much to my diamond earrings fund! :( You need a serious equipment upgrade! I'll pass the collection plate around the forum for you and see what we can do! :p

It is my imagination or is everyone just getting better and better. Very dark there Tony, finally a playground my little devil would feel at home on, my princess would demand something more like this. (very quick attempt by the way)

Well, to say the least, this has been a rather interesting Crop Challenge so far (the operative word here being "challenge!") We've had one member to run screaming frantically from the forum, one member temporarily put on suspension for his entry (although he doesn't know it yet!), and one member reliving a 1960's flashback of a "mellower" time! But the images have all been incredible, considering what you had to work with!
Seachelle - You started us off with a great Kaleidoscope effect! I can't begin to image how you created that, but it is very cool! I really like it! And your “vintage” effect on the second submission was very unique! Nicely done! And you should have placed the picture you placed in this Comments section in the Crop thread! I think this one is your best one of all! It is really fun and colorful! I love it!
Bill - I thought your first two images were very creative and colorful. I really enjoyed all of the different ways you invented to make something out of two challenging images, and I especially liked the orb! But when my third image sent you running and screaming from the forum, busting through my photo, “to the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time. And you’ll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats…” well, I have to admit, I felt a little guilty about that. But I still got a kick out of your “crazy” image! And by the way, how’s that basket weaving coming along? Getting the hang of it, yet? :p
Sharon – I really like your take on the nursery image. It almost has a glowy fluorescent look to it and you made the colors really pop! I never would have thought of that!
Cfair – I think the Panos Rubik’s Cube effect is super! I need to learn that! It really sets off an image, doesn’t it?
Tony – I’ve seen playgrounds where the colors were overly-enhanced to the point of sensory-overload, but I’ve never seen a children’s playground where they drained all of the color out! You’re obviously not a city planner!!! I love images where someone does the opposite of what’s expected. Though the kids playing in the park now seem a little more melancholy. (By gosh, Tony, you might be on to something!)
Steven – Oh, where do I begin???? First off, you apparently misconstrued the term “host” for “roast!” You’ve managed, in one solitary image, to single-handedly set Kentucky back 100 years!!! In truth, Steven, this image is hilarious! And I wouldn’t have expected any less of you! I got a tremendous kick out of it, from the “tobacco leaves,” the “outhouse,” and the “KFC bucket,” to that fish sprinkler you so greatly admired! It seals my concept of you as a genius with a twisted side. And after I allowed you to tag me for this job, this is how you repay me? So as a result of your tremendous effort, I am temporarily suspending you from participating in any more challenges that I host! (I have the power to do that, right? Right?) You’re just evil!
Toni – Your image in not in the least bit boring! I love the placement of the cherubs and the fade effect around the edges of the image. You definitely improved my shot!
Pete – I’ve always loved the effect of selective coloring, and even toyed with the idea of doing it, too, though you produced a far better than I ever could have! I think it’s very effective, yet also a subtle way of bringing focus to a selective point in the image. I really like it and I think the framing around the photo was very well done, too! Great idea! Your second image really caught my eye! Again, I love the sketch effect and the color scheme you choose for the image. And I’m a big fan of the Out of Bounds technique! This is really great!
Val – Your image is lovely in its simplicity! Singling out one pot of flowers and uniquely framing it and drawing the stencils in the corner made a very busy shot beautifully uncomplicated. A very nice treatment of the image! And your second submission is really interesting! It sort of reminds me of Aztec art! Who would have thought some orange color swatches and filters would produce something so cool?
Byron - I just had to laugh when I saw your submission! Do the words “Haight-Ashbury,” “The Grateful Dead,” and “The Summer of Love” ring any bells for you??? How about “flashback?” Actually, Byron, I like it! I don’t know what the heck it is… but I still like it! And the fact that you participated! That’s all that really matters!
Rita – Another really cool fluorescent-type image! I love these! They really make the flowers pop right off of the screen! A superb job!
mljrbg – Another Panos effect! I have to investigate these effects further! They are really terrific and the fans are something I would never have thought of applying an image to! Something new to learn! Thank you!
Christell – I was getting worried about you and didn’t think you were going to join us! And, score! You did two! Looking at the playground through the puzzle piece is a great idea! It gives it a very unique perspective! And your second image is creative, as well as funny! I’d buy one! Heck! I’d buy two! Well done! Though I couldn’t help but notice, you never got around to dusting those shelves!
This has certainly been a learning experience for me this week! It’s been so much fun seeing everyone’s artistic approach to my rather ordinary photographs! It certainly makes me want to learn more and do better. Thanks to everyone who has participated so far. And there’s still a lot of time for others to play.... like Joe and Ellen? Hate to call people out but... where are you guys???

Kim- Thanks for doing the challenge this week, and for taking the time to do all the comments. It's pretty exhausting, isn't it? And I was simply paying a tribute to you, the host, with my Kentucky Kollage. That's the way you spell it, right? Actually, I like Kentucky. The caves, the bluegrass music and I used to like the chicken before I developed my "eat meat off a bone" phobia. I heard on the radio today that Lexington (and I have been there!) is the number one carbon producing city per capita in the United States! I am sure you must be proud of that! Besides cars they mentioned the two other major culprits; lawnmowers and tractors! But seriously, I hope you would never think I would perpetrate a stereotype of your great state just to get a cheap laugh. I like the sounds of crickets and banjos just too much!:D
And yes, you can have me banned as it goes with the duty of being host. This week you have the power.

Ellen - Great job on compositing so many elements of all of the images! What a daunting task that must have been. But I really love the final result! Thanks for participating! And your fish sprinkler is on the same freight train as Steven's! :p
