I bought Elements 6 for the sole purpose of making Flyers for promotion of my band. What I want to do is to set our band logo onto a picture, then ad some typesetting to show the date, address of the venue and other bands on the show. Is this possible? How do I start?

Here is a suggestion for your flyer:
1) Have a picture of your band as the Background Layer.
2) Then, scan (or draw in) you logo. Modify your logo as needed, ie changing the size, color, etc. Have your logo as Layer 1, on top of your Background Layer.
3) Add a text layer which will contain your show dates and time.
I know this is short, but it can be done, just play with it a little.

How would I scan my logo? I have files on my desktop that have our logo that we use. Can I drag them in or what?

If you already have files then I would try to open them into Elements. What file type are they?

For the PDF file, you can use in Organizer File>Get Photos>From Files and Folders and in the drop-down box select PDF files. If there is a usable photo in the PDF file you will then have it in the PSE Organizer. Open it in the Editor, use select all Ctrl-A then copy Ctrl-C then switch to your band photo and select paste Ctrl-V and use the Move tool to move it where you want it; you can also resize, rotate, etc.

If you could also get the logo in JPG, or TIFF format, you can use them as well.
