I have a number of old b & w family photos that I want to do some work with. How do I get them on to a disk or card so that they can be worked on in Elements???? The local Office Depot said that they are put on a disk in PDF format and can't be changed.
Thanks

Do you have a scanner or access to a scanner? I have scanned in old photos and imported them straight into Elements that way.

Gene - do you have the original pictures? If so, scan them as high resolution jpg files. I scan each of my images at home into separate files; it's easiest for me to work with. My Mom took some into Walgreen's and they scanned them for her as jpg not pdf.

I edited jpg's also. I specified my intentions before getting them scanned.I also had some succes at photographing the pictures myself on the kitchen table.
lighting, reflections, and camera shake sent many frames to the recycle bin.
I did get a cropped 3x5 from a pass-port size print.
give it a whirl.

"The local Office Depot said that they are put on a disk in PDF format and can't be changed."
Open the PDF photos with Adobe Reader, which you can download free from Adobe.
Once open on your monitor enlarge or reduce the images to your liking.
Take a screen shot of them.
Then open in PSE and make your corrections.

I have PSE 5.0 and I have imported PDF files with images. Just use File > Open, point to the PDF file & click OK. Then the Import PDF window comes up:
http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1uUKyRu9WCkGMlVMHWqgzuSrj4hKx_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1uUKyRu9WCkGMlVMHWqgzuSrj4hKx)
You can use the dropdown to designate Image and then the thumbnails of the images will be shown. Click on the image(s) you want to import and click OK. You can also type in a Resolution at which to import the image(s).

:) Thanks to those who replied. Kinko's will scan and put them in jpg format. Maybe tomorrow will go to Kinko's.
Again, Thanks
