I use PE4 for digital and analog video. When capturing from analog VHS I use EZMaker USB2 between Video-player and PC. In settings I choose "WDM Capture" When capturing I hear the sount, but no sound is recording. I have checked the "capture video and audio". In mediaplayer there are also no sound. When using another capturing program (MovieFActory) the sound is OK. When I capture (in Premiere) from analog camcorder through EZMaker to PC the sound is OK.
I would like to capture my old VHS-movies directly to Premiere, but HOW??
Åshild in Norway:rolleyes:

Sorry for the delayed response. I missed your post when it was posted.
Check out the following link from Premiere Elements User to User Forum at Adobe:

Whatever route you use, you do need the analog to digital conversion. Would you agree?

I have not worked with this personally, so what follows are my thoughts on the matter:
Just to make sure we are together on this:
1. Is this the EZ Maker USB2 and that you are using?
http://www.aver.com/2005home/product/videocapture/ezmakerusb2.0/ezmakerusb2.0.shtml
http://www.laaudiofile.com/ezmaker.html
2. If so, are the following what is happening:
a. VCR with its Analog VHS connected to EZ Maker device connected to PC (being captured to Premiere Elements 4) = NOT WORKING. You say that you have setting at "WDM Capture". Is this setting the one within Premiere Elements 4 in the Capture Settings there? Are there any settings on the VCR for this procedure? Connections are: VCR to EZ Maker = RCA Jacks and EZ Maker to PC = USB2 to USB2???? If I am on the right track, this is the one that you want to work.
b. VCR with its Analog VHS connected to EZ Maker device connected to PC, being captured to Movie Factory = WORKS. The issue may go to the WDM support of Movie Factory versus a limited WDM support for Premiere Elements 4. Further, what is the file extension of your captured file, MPEG?
c. Analog Camcorder connected to EZ Maker device connected to PC being captured to Premiere Elements 4 = WORKS. My questions here would be what is the setting within the camcorder and what is the capture setting within Premiere Elements Capture settings? What connections are involved between the Camcorder and EZ Maker: RCA to RCA?? Further, what is the file extension of your captured file, MPEG?
If this is how it goes, then more information on "c" may help to explain why that works and "a" does not.
The ideal is to bring DV AVI into Premiere Elements. That being said, you may have to use the software that came with the device to bring the digitalized data to the PC, followed by conversion to DV AVI, before you bring it into Premiere Elements. I think the core issue goes to the extent of the WDM support of Premiere Elements (webcam, probably; other, ????)
To be continued....
