As most know, and some in countries outside the U. S. may not know, Monday is Memorial Day.

Hopefully most don't have a family member or friend in the current conflict. But if you would like to say something or post a photo to remember our troops you can.

I'll start it off with this photo I took Sunday at the National Cemetery in New Bern, NC.

A Thousand Stories

Thanks for starting this thread Joe.

These grave markers are for the heroes of Corrales, New Mexico who gave their lives in WWII.

Fantastic images! My son-in-law is now safely back home again but he has lost several close friends there. Chris was his best friend and was killed on his second tour of duty. I made this tribute for both Travis and for Chris' wife and son.

Scott Eccleston from the blog Weekly Photography Tips recently asked for photos from blog readers to be used in a Memorial Day tribute slideshow. I notice that Joe contributed the photo he posted to start this thread and I provided a photo of my father as well.

HERE (http://weeklyphototips.com/)is the link to the tribute which replaces Scott's blog for the weekend...

Nan, your photo is beautiful as we remember these men and women fighting for all of us. I'm glad your son-in-law is home safely.

Julie, what a beautiful tribute of the brave people protecting all of us. Thanks for posting these.

We don't celebrate Memorial Day in the UK, we have Remembrance Day on the 11th of November.
This is one I did earlier but please remember not all the troops in the danger zones are Americans.
Let's hope and pray that they all come home soon.
Kev.

Kev, I am so sorry that I didn't acknowledge all of the troops. I have edited my post. Thank you for posting that reminder.

This is a moving tribute (http://www.managedmusic.com/php/BYGIndex.php?page=playBYG) to the vets of WWII and Korea.

Here's another one I did last year.
The two guardsmen are the ones I blended for my previous post.
Tourists think the Guards they see in London are just chocolate box soldiers but in fact they first class soldiers.

The true hero's of today are ours and all our allies troops serving their respective countries so freedom shall not perish. We all sometimes forget and take our liberties for granted. Our hero's who are in harms way shall not be forgotten.

This picture nearly brings me to tears when I look at it. This was taken right before my Daddy left for World War II. He looks so young and vulnerable. My grandparents look so proud but also worried. I can only imagine what they are feeling. I am still blessed to have my Daddy, but he is not in good health at all.
