What beautiful shots. And that one with the empty nest head-on tweaks the imagination....could be a fun frame for who-knows-what! Shar

Thank you Shar :)
I never thought about the empty nest picture as you did... I don't have that kind of imagination. If anyone wants to play with it, be my guest! :D

I don't have much imagination either (I hate when they say on the home improvement shows, "All it takes is a little imagination!"), but my primary photo usage is digital scrapbooking, so I see frames everywhere! :D Shar

Thank you Anita I am glad you like it.
I am hoping I can get some pictures of the baby robins; provided the kids in the neighborhood do not find the nest!

Really nice photo. You must have had to climb a tree to take them. Can't wait till they hatch to see the babies & mom feeding them. Nice start to gallery.

Hi,
I've just seen your Robin's Nest photos. They are beautiful! How long did it take you to shoot the whole series? You must be very patient.
I admire your creativity. Mark Twain would have been very proud of you. Your imagination is definitely NOT out of focus.

Thank you Christell for your kind comments.
I did not have to climb this tree. It is a small tree, and the Robin built her nest in the bottom 'crook' (?) of the tree which is only about 4 foot from the ground. I am hoping to be able to get some shots of the babies when they hatch, provided the neighborhood kids and cats do not find this :(

My wife first noticed the nest Saturday May 10. That is the day I took the 2 photos of the empty nest. May 17 is when I found the nest had 2 eggs. May 18 (the next day) is when the nest had 3 eggs. May 19 is when I found momma sitting on her nest. I had to use my tripod to keep the camera steady and use the zoom on my lens as I did not want to get too close!

I was out of town a few days, and during that time the baby Robin's were born! I doubt this picture is showing the babies more than 2-3 days old.
I will do my best to keep the photos updated... hopefully some showing the babies being fed if I can be there at the right time!

Charles, great shots! According to All About Birds (Cornell), you have 12 to 14 days to wait for the chicks to appear.
Momma Robin certainly needs to learn not to build her nest so low to the ground and out in the open. Hopefully, the story will have a happy ending....

Chuck,
Thank you. I agree too that Momma built her nest in a very dangerous place. I was very surprised to find her nest so out in the open and close to the ground. As I said in an earlier post, I do hope the kids and cats (and other predators) do not find this nest.

I do worry a bit that the nest is so close to the ground and fairly visible :(

Hi Charles,
I just love this series. Have you thought of -- after the precious ones fly away -- of making a video/slideshow, with some soft music, a lullaby perhaps?

Hi Charles,
The babies are indeed growing fast. Hate the day they'll fly away. They're going to be missed. Keep the images coming, they are lovely. The whole series is great.

Hi Sepiana,
From what I have learned, I have approximately one week left before they do indeed leave the nest. :(
I will continue taking pictures until they are gone.
Thank you. I am glad you along with others have enjoyed this series. :)

I'm fairly new here........and I am confused! I watched Ned Nikon twice and cannot find my answer. This might not go in this thread but it won't be the first time we have gotten off subject so I hope I can get some help. <grin>
I would love to see the Robin's nest. I do not show the signatures and links at the bottom of the messages. ??? I cannot find a setting that will enable them. I read the first posting about the nest and it said there was a link below and I have no below!!!
What am I doing wrong?? I hope someone can help.
Thanks,
Ms Katy

Thanks! I saw that your name is Charles. I hadn't seen that part, or the links to blueprints!! I'm sure it is a setting and Ned Nikon should be able to help!;)
I love your baby bird pictures!!! I assume you don't climb that tree every morning!
BTW, I was born a Hoosier, just moved to AR at an early age!

Katy,
Since you are unable to see my signature, I am also assuming you are unable to see anyone's signature.
I am glad you like my bird pictures. No I do not have to climb a tree! Momma Robin built her nest at the bottom of the trunk of a very small tree I have in my front yard. The nest is only about 3-4 feet off the ground. Sounds very dangerous to me, but so far the babies are doing just fine. I estimate I have this week yet before they leave the nest.

Katy,
I am a slow thinker, but I just realised you can find my Robin Images another way.... and anyone else that has images in the Village Gallery.
At the top RIGHT corner of my thread, you will see the word images with a number beside that. Click on that number to get to my Village Gallery, or if you see anyone else with that there, click on theirs.

Katy,
I started a new thread asking for help HERE (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37959). You can add a message in that thread if you like. There may well be others that also are not able to see signatures that could benifit from this as well!

Thank you both. I enjoyed taking the pictures, and was amazed at how close I could get to the nest! Yes most of the time momma was squaking but she did not attack me!!
They are now out of the nest. :(

Deborah,
Thank you. I am really glad you enjoyed the Robin pictures and I am thrilled to know I brought a huge smile to your face :)
Sepiana,
Yes, sadly they are all gone now. I had some people ask me if the nest would get re-used and I did not know. After watching the empty nest for several days, and after some hard rains I am sure I can safely say that no the nest will not get re-used. The nest is deteriorating quite a bit now. It is not pristine as it was when mama first made the nest.
