Steven! Aaaack!

Even your able-bodied assistant, Ping, doesn't want them!

Thanks for the idea Kim. I credit you for this one! And Ping would kill for these, and if he was big enough he would kill me, as all cats would!

Steven,

how lovely to see Ping, how's he doing now?
Has everyone (ie. cats) settled down together now?

He looks lovely :)

Lisa- Well, it has been interesting. Two cats on Prozac, one (Ping) on buspirone. A few hundred dollars in furniture damage, litter box retraining, a consultation with a pet psychic, Reiki healing with "life energy" metaphysics and Ping having set off the "pet sensitive" home alarm motion detector three times! It's been a blast!:)

He is still kept in isolation from the two alphas upstairs, and is making his introduction to the two mellower cats, slowly. He is a pretty fun character, and I enjoy his company. Just trying to tweak the social dynamics with all the others!

Thanks to Steven and Bill, I am currently suffering from SES. (Sushi Envy Syndrome)

The only decent sushi house within reasonable distance is convinced that they are better than they actually are - and have priced themselves accordingly.

The local "plain but good quality" place went under after a car drove through their front windows -- thankfully, it was out of hours, but they never recovered from the shut-down.

I need a serious wasabi fix...

Byron - Next time you're in Sacramento, there's a little place called Zen Sushi that's pretty good. (Right next door to the Torch Club if you need a landmark:D)

Byron.... uh..... regarding your serious case of SES. Some things are just best kept to yourself! And what is this about the Torch Club?

Bill - all this can be yours... if you'll just spill your guts!!! My treat!

I just want to chime in my 3 cents about how delicious Martha's rolls (and description) look!!! Yummy!!

And Kim....how could you have those Tootsie Rolls within reach? (Or are they all gone now??)

I looked all over my house (we have FOUR different 35mm film cams here) could not find a single roll of film to shoot digitally. Very telling adventure...

I agree with Val - Martha's rolls look very appetising, and far more tantalising IMHO than sushi. I could smell them from here. I did bake bread this week but they were loaves, not round!

I also couldn't find a single roll of film to photograph, after turning the house upside down! I also tried to find a roll of banknotes, but nobody was feeling very flush this week, coins were all I could find, and when I emptied out the pockets prior to doing the laundry I did find a few pennies rolling around!

Now, Martha, you are talking real food with those fresh-baked rolls and ham. You bring the rolls and I'll fry the catfish and hushpuppies.

OMG - I didn't see this until after my entry - I guess I'm the only one with a roll of undevoloped film laying around?

The catfish and hushpuppies sound great! Who will bring coleslaw? And we must have dessert!
I'm not much on sushi either but it does look pretty.
So many different kinds of rolls!

Well I'm shocked ... shocked! ...that you'd think my confidences can be had for what appears to be a "6 pc sashimi, 5 pc sushi & a roll" combination plate with no eel. No ... some things are best taken to the grave. As they say in Sacramento, "What happens in the Torch Club (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1a1rBTu5wFWSxDvi1svynupGXyKID6)st ays in the Torch Club"

Bill - hmmmm... okay, so I sense you're not cheap, but you can be bought! What if I throw in the (urp!) eel? (The depths I'll sink to just for a little dirt!)

Well the great entries are rolling in now. (See what you started Val?;))

Cape - Thanks for getting us rolling with your very creative images. It looks like the witch is having a bad day.

Steven - Even though I'm still a little bummed about the table the entries are great and obvously inspirational. Did you have to share with Ping?

Kim - The egg rolls look delicious ... and it's a nice sharp image. Good entry! I'm glad someone jumped on the Tootsie Roll idea, and it looks like you may have had them on hand??

Val - Nice job getting us away from food. The tape rolls are a fine interpretation of the theme.

Bayla - The rolls look delicious. Was that an excuse for you to visit Swan's bakery?? Fun interpretation on the roller blades too!!

Clara - Fine, fine image and interpretation!! Well done. And you can cook fish?? Whod'a thought. (Actually I love fried catfish. Do you use flour, corn meal or a combination?)

Martha - Man this thread is making me hungry. Your image and presentation are fabulous. I love the warm colors and composition ... and ham.

Sharon - You found film!!! Very nice sharpness nice rich colors. The presentation is almost nostalgic. Nice entry!

Mary Lou - Great subject matter and a nice job capturing it while moving. (I'd make some sort of traffic safety suggestion, but it would be hypocritical as I took a couple shots through my sunroof (http://regularman.smugmug.com/gallery/4097561#296767409_AoaLM)last week.:o)

Fun entries ... keep them coming in.

Bill, that's really funny because I have often thought of taking shots through my sunroof but never was brave enough to try!! I looked through your gallery and your have some great photos. I really would like a critique on my picture and to see if I could have done it differently. I wil post the link to the original photo when I get home.

Thanks.

Byron - Next time you're in Sacramento...Zen Sushi...Torch Club...Bill,

A funny coincidence... I've actually been spending some time in Sacramento over the past weeks. I'm serving on a jury in US District Court. The courthouse is at 5th and I, for reference. After my SES attack, I coerced one of my fellow jurors to accompany me on a sushi run at lunch, yesterday. We found Sakura on J between 8th and 9th, which was a comfortable walk.

I usually stick to nigiri and sashimi, but had a combo lunch special, so can definitely recommend the Dragon roll.

Still... it was more of a teaser than an appeaser... :p

Here are the links to my before and after photos. I would really appreciate any comments on how I could improve this or have done it differently. First I removed the background then crop then clone and then put it on a blue background.

Thanks.

Ellen - Are those fiddlehead ferns?? If so, I've had them sauteed on a few occasions and the're really quite good. If those aren't fiddleheads nevermind. I'm not much on botany or fernology.:o

I forgot all about eating fiddleheads. That was a deer fern and quite small. I don't know which ferns are considered yummy, enough butter and who knows...

Well this turned into a great collection of shots. Congratulations to all!!

Toni - Aside from looking delicious your photo is tack sharp, the colors are great together and it's well composed with the onion greens in a circle. Well done. I hope you'll pass them around!

Helen - Nice theme interpretation and I like the shallow depth of field. I see you have the rolled napkin out ... probably in anticipation of a spring roll!

Ellen - Beautiful colors in your entry! It's really fun to see how the middle one has un-rolled. Thanks also for the Wiki link.

Lisa - Again just wonderful rich colors! I get so hungry when I look through these.

Clara - Three two's will be tough to beat. Very colorful and fun interpretation.

Tony - Striking image. It fits the theme perfectly and is very nicely presented.

Pat - I'm so glad you're back. Your images are always wonderful and this is no exception. Very nice job.:D

Rob - Nice shot of the rolling water wheel, and the b&w works really well with it. (I notice a cold draft coming through my monitor though when I open the image:confused:)

Julie - 'Tanks' a lot. Sorry. That's one of those perspectives you hope you don't often get ... very nice image that serves as a reminder to get out of it's way. It really jumps at you ... nicely done.

Fine entries everyone ... and there's still time for more!!

Bobbie - Hillarious! A very nice entry ... thanks for joining in on the fun.

You were right on your first thought... I decided against it...lol
