I understand that you can't drag guides in PSE6 like you can in PCS. I am trying to download and istall grants tools for alignment. I am not understanding the instructions---Extract the files into your Elements "Preview\Effects" Directory. No need to create the directory they are stored in as this is included in the Zip ile. Can someone clear this up for me? I am really new to downloading plug ins.
Thanks Carol

Hi there. I don't have Grant's tools installed, but you don't need them to align multiple objects in PSE 6 - the align tools are available on the options bar. Just select items on two or more layers and you can use the built-in tools to align the objects to one another by the tops, bottoms, left or right edges.

Thanks Val I will give it a try. What if I need guide lines for things like brushes will it work for that too?

For brushes, I just switch on the grid. You can set the sizes as needed.
Edit > Preferences > Grid this is where you set the dimensions of the gridlines.
Then...
View > Grid to display it on your document. (doesn't print)
I don't know if grant's tools have movable guidelines. Do a search within this forum for Grant's tools and you'll find tons of posts about them....

Unfortunately Grant's guidelines aren't moveable in PSE6. One of the reasons I keep PSE3 on my computer is for times when I want my moveable guidelines!!:)

It's a pity about Grant's guide lines in 6 but I use the Alignment, Distribution tools and the Grid, they are all great. Caution on the Grid, make sure that snap to is off.

Thanks to all for you help. Think it will be best to use the grid to keep things lined up. Just need a little practice or maybe a lot.:)
