to use separate layers for each process you use?

Such as if I use levels and contrast, should I have a separate layer for levels and a spearate layer for contrast?

If so, why?

Many thanks!

Hi Daniel
The reason I use a different layer for each step is because it gives me more flexibility to adjust the changes I make. If I do one thing and then something following that changes the overall look, I can step back and tweak it.

Hi Daniel ...

I go along with everything Mary said ... thats how I do it too :).

Just one point Brightness and Contrast is one thing I never use .. I find levels to be much better and more flexible :)

Why thank you ladies! It's a little more work but probably worth it in the long run. You probably get a larger file size as well I would imagine.

I don't mess with brightness much. I do play around with contrasts now and again as I do many low-light shoots, primarily of my brides orchestra concerts.

Many thanks for the quick replies!

Have a great one!

Besides, using adjustment layers doesn't change the original (being on its own layer).. So, if a better tools makes its way into PSE, you'll still have the original to use it on :-)
