We definitely plan to do more on line training classes...
Part of the problem is we have some ideas of what we could do next but just can't decide.
What would you like to see?
- Selection techniques
- All about layers
- Scrapbooking techniques
- Borders and special effects

or... your suggesiton.
let us know, would you?

Following are my personal choices:

"All about layers" This is so important to using Elements effectively - anything to help use "layers" more effectively would be my first choice.

"Selection Techniques" Second choice - effectively using the various selections and tools.

In my opinion, scrapbooking and borders, etc would be last - mainly because there are so many articles and tutorials already on these subjects - and, I tend personally not to be interested in the "graphic arts" side of elements! Others may feel differently.

My main goal is to learn to use Elements effectively in enhancing images and portraits - the first two courses did a great job in this regard.

I am with Bill on the topics of all about layers, and especially the selections one. Getting a good selection is so important, but very tricky, and a course that would simplify it would be very useful to a lot of us.

In order of importance to me personally:
1. All About layers
2. Selection Techniques
3. Borders and special effects
4 Scrapbooking

I'm just psyched that you are already planning more-the courses are just awesome. :D

All that's been said sounds very very interesting!

I'll add...

- Photoshop for digital creation (those who starts from scratch to create objects or any other form of digital imagery)
- Special effects (creating thunder, water, etc.)

Dave

Anything you want is fine by me

I'm trying to be good, after all the trouble I caused in the last class.

Layers would be cool... but 21 days?
Not a scrapper, but scrapbooking ideas might be fun.

How about a "Down and Dirty" Series..I know, kind of interferes with the tuts, but I bet it would be popular.

Layers,
Layers,
Layers,
Layers.......starting with basics and building up the layers to more complicated techniques :) Seems to me that Layers are the most important building blocks of Elements & personally I feel that I've only scratched at the surface and sometimes feel very much out of my depth.

Also Selection techniques, although everyone tells me it's all a matter of practice.

Would like to learn more about filters and blend modes too. Please. And soon if possible - without my daily fix of online classes I'm having severe withdrawal symptoms :(

OHHHHHHH, definitely LAYERS!! I am using adjustment layers but I know there is more to it.

Selections would be a good idea......but Layers would be my first choice

I like the idea of Borders and Special effects but Layers are so important.

Did I mention, I would really like to see more information on Layers... :D

I've been on this website every night for a week and I learn something different each time. This is a great site. Sure wish I know about it earlier. I am a subscriber and just can't get enough!

Keep up the good work!

I vote for layers. I do well following the tuts but often on my own I am not sure when to 'clip', merge down, new layer, duplicate layer, etc. I am sure there are logical reasons for all of these directions but mine seem to be hit or miss. Thanks for continuing with this series...

Same here, I am doing things but only because Dave said to so them in glass.
So for me layers, layers and layers....Selection. At this time I do go to the srapbooks sites but to learn about PSE... srapbooking would be last on my list.. And please hold class up until after my move on Nov 10.

I don't want to miss a thing.... OH don't forget to met us know if we can save the movie.... This will determine if I take the class...at least I think it will.

I like all of the ideas, but I agree with Suzanne. As soon as i get more than a few layers going, I start to lose confidence and question each move after. So my vote is for layers.
I also like the selections idea! How about a class on layers with bonus videos having to do with selections? Hmmmm.... :)

I would like to see more info on layers as well plus info on "Save As" .

Such as the best format to use to save a photo that I have finished enhancing.

:)

Hi there ...

If you want to post your query about "save as" in another thread I am sure that we will be able to help you. Just let us have a little more detail such as what you want to do with the image :)

Its better to post in another thread otherwise it may get lost in here :) and we wouldn't want that to happen :)

Sorry,

I didn't have a question about formats, layers, enhancing nor save.

Just wanted to suggest a topic for "new on line courses - what's in the future".

Well something else I would really like to know more about is ...

Filter>Render>Lighting Effects ...

There are so many goodies in there ... and I want to know more about using them .... please :)

That's a good idea Wendy-that one seems to need a lot of experimenting with because I don't really get the idea behind all the settings in the dialogue box...so it's do/undo until I like what I see, and it's such a cool effect.

Actually, until Matt did the painterly effect video, it never occurred to me to mix a bunch of filters together-maybe something on filter flexibility...

While I'm on the subject of stuff I still don't know  , any suggestions on where to go to learn more about curves?

Thanks

Pauline

I would like to see classes on those things that we don't readily use because we just don't know how they work. Like lighting effects, and some of the pet extra tools that sit there because I don't know what to do with them. "selective colour, colour balance, channel mixer'. They might be wonderful, but right now they sit there and stare at me.

There is a lot of stuff about layers in the video section already and we use layers constantly, so I would love to get into the more complex stuff that we don't know how to use.

I do agee with that. It would be nice to explore some of things we don't use much ... :)

Selections Techniques: When Feathering I get "ghost images" which are more like splotches and when Cloning the ghost images are like reflections. It would be nice to be shown how to avoid these.

Another little education I would like to see as PART of one class, and very briefly, is how much time and effortgoes into making a detailed selection. If such a selection process is normally done. In the class broad strokes are used just to demonstrate the technique. However, when I start looking at the changes the "defects" created have me undoing most of the changes.

It always seems to me that getting too detailed creates hard edges but not being detailed leaves artifacts. Both bother me when I'm looking at the picture.

Not into scrapbooking but I am sure a class for those that are would be great!

I agree with Pauline and others - there is already a ton of stuff about Layers and selections, but nothing about Blending techniques, and the Adobe help is no help, either. Let's do things that we ahven't done before.

I am interested in more online classes but I was disappointed that I couldn't download the video for help later when I want to review the class when I took the Protrait Retouching class. I could download them for the Workflow class. Is there a way to download the video in the Protrait class?

Hey, all I see on the Home Page is a DVD by Dave Cross. The old home page talked about Matt's Scrapbooking DVD but I don't see anywhere where it can be obtained.

If you have a clue, please let me know.:)
