Christell - a very fine result, you are surely one of our experts on combining filters and get fantastic results, thanks for sharing this recipe.:)

Joe - wow, I looked at the first image and that was my thought, then the second one is definitely a triple wow factor! I love the richness in the tones of the first one, but the second one has an intensity which draws you in, very powerful.
Thanks for the tip about the 'Nik Software Color Efex Pro 3.0', sometimes it's so nice to find a one-click effect which is really good.

Val - a cute little owl, a very soft result, that's lovely. Thanks for the reminder about the colour swatches being important for some of the filters (that's something I tend to forget regularly).

Tammy - that is a really neat background, sets off the b&w's lovely. And using an overlay suits it perfectly.

Clara - a beautiful still art! I know exactly what you mean about remembering (or not) the stages. Sometimes too, taking notes gets in the way, but if you get something you really like it is frustrating to not be able to get it again.

Bill - that's fantastic and definitely needs to be viewed at full size (not just the thumbnail). Is Virtual Painter a free plug-in or one you have to buy?

Dales - looks great, very nice with the texture too.

Eleanor - that looks lovely and a great image, it looks a bit like the 'reflection thingy' (sorry I don't know what it is called) that is in Chicago (that Ellen put some pics up of some time ago), is it there or some other place?
When you get chance, do explore some more with the filters, you'll love it.

Thanks everyone, we're off to a great start, do try different blend modes and opacities with the filters, the results can be surprising :)

Thanks Lisa -

Grant mentioned Virtual Painter several years ago ... I tried it and got hooked. It's about $50 US, but there's a free trial at http://www.virtualpainter5.com/

I has a about 15 different painting styles and they're scalable. It's one of about three plug-ins that I use.

Thanks again for the nice comment.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks. Yes, it is that "reflection thingy" :) It's actual name is "Cloud Gate", but most people just call it the Bean. I really liked the result using the technique that you used & it is now one of the wallpapers for my iPhone.

Thanks again for the challenge!!

Thank you for the nice comments Lisa. I liked the second picture too. I may use that technique on some others.

Great images everyone.

Fish - wow that is dramatic! Great colours.

Tony - I love how the sky turned out, it looks so 'dynamic', to me it has a HDR look. I find a lot of times I can't repeat an achieved effect/look, even when I take notes of settings etc, I guess so many must be very dependent on the original image rather than translating to a formula for all.

Larry - very cool!
Pixentral side by side is a great idea btw, not sure I know how to do it though, so I might be asking soon ;).

Martha - a great vintage, olde worlde look! And those are super textures.

Mary Lou - that is very pretty, oh I know exactly what you mean about too many steps to remember which ones.

Kim - that is stunning! To me it didn't look dull, maybe a little muted (more a subtle look rather than a dull one), but it still looks great.

Sharon - sorry to hear about your loss. You've done a great job on the image, the colour burn really restores the colour and it definitely has to be viewed full size to appreciate the texture.

cfair - a very pretty bloom. I like how you chose to do a different effect on the background.

Toni - your cat is absolutely beautiful. A must see at full size to appreciate the texture, to me it definitely looks like artwork on an old canvas. (plus I love cat pics too :D).

Thanks everyone, it's an inspiration to see your creations, stay tuned for a new Be Creative tomorrow :D
