Hi
I've used Premiere Elements 3.0 to make DVD's (usually with menus) for quite a while now. They playback fine on both my regular DVD players, but I'm discovering that the Disks will not play on some other DVD players, especially games consoles that are designed to play DVD's such as the playstation and x-box
I usually use DVD-R disks.
Appreciate any comments or suggestions.

If you have not done so already,
a. Check out the specifications of all players involved in the issue
b. You say that you usually use DVD-R. Try other DVD-R discs from that batch. Then try another brand DVD-R. If that does not work, try a DVD disc with another format, such as DVD+R or whatever your player shows in its disc support list. What you may want to do before all that: If you have a DVD produced when everything played all, then check to see if this DVD still plays on all.
What is the format of the contents of the DVD-R disc that plays on your regular player, but not on the others. I am assuming that it is DVD-VIDEO. If you look at that disc's content in the DVD computer drive, do you see the expected DVD-VIDEO structure, VIDEO_TS, etc.? If you created a DVD-VIDEO in Premiere Elements 3, what project preset did you set: PAL DV Standard 4:3 or Widescreen 16:9? If the 16:9 project preset, does the 4:3 project preset version play on all players or just your regular player.
To be continued

Thanks for the prompt response ATR.
The burned disk contains 2 folders: "OpenDVD" and "VIDEO_TS". I have no idea how to burn a DVD any other way.
The DVD-R disk was burnt with the PAL 16:9 settings.
I'll have an experiment with some other disk types and see if it yields a better result - am thinking that perhaps these games consoles can not handle DVD-R?
I'll let you know what happens
Cheers

Burn at the lowest speed the DVD and burner will allow. I usually do OK burning on 8x and 16x disks, I have never been able to get a home burned DVD to play on Playstation 2 or XBox, but don't know about XBox 360 or Playstation 3.

I had that very same problem.
What worked for me was to change to +R disks.
I was told that most players will play both + and - disks, but not all. A few will only play one or the other.

Rick,
My first take on your post was that this was something that worked at one time and does not work now. Did I assume incorrectly?
So, did you ever get your DVD-VIDEO on DVD-R disc to playback on your Playstation and X-Box?
Nonetheless, I still think checking out the players specifications and what you have been using is the first order of business.

I only have a +R burner, and could never get them to play in Playstation or XBox. You can check DVD/Player compatablity at this link http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers
