When I click on the spot healing brush, I get a cross instead of a circle, and pressing right & left bracket keys doesn't make it go bigger or smaller. What's happened to my little circle?

Try the CAPS LOCK key -- I seem to remember it changes brushes from pinpoing to adjustable.

Caps lock changed it from a cross to a cross with a dot in the middle but not a circle :( It changed back to a circle without me doing anything for about twenty minutes and then for no apparent reason changed back to a cross again. I think it may be my mouse which is being replaced this week as it's become very slow to respond and keeps doing all sorts of things. I also found the whole PSE program was running very slow this evening, so I've saved what i'm in the middle of and will try again tomorrow.
Thanks for your input Will

Bayla,
Do you have a tablet (Wacom) on which the pen or the mouse would have been left on the sensitive pad? If so, it could explain the odd behaviour.
But then, when strange things happen, you might want to reset the preferences : Immediately after starting PSE, press and hold the COMMAND - OPTION - SHIFT (Control - Alt - Shift on Windows) then answer Yes.

Hi Bayla,
This happened to me once, and Wendy's advice was to go to Preferences>Displays and Cursors, and make sure that the button beside "brush size" is selected. Doing that restored the brush cursor to it's typical circle shape.
Hope this helps :D

Well guess what - I opened up PSE this am and everything is hunky dory :D But I checked Preferences>Displays & Cursors to make sure the settings were as they should be, which they were. One of life's unexplained mysteries I guess!
Thanks Ray & Carol for your suggestions.

PS. I don't have a tablet yet, but watch this space.....I'm working on it!

Hi there ...
If all else had failed then a reset of the prefs maybe would have been the next step ... but glad to see that its all back to normal now :)
