I want to combine these two pictures into one collage.
Is there any way to get the same Lighting onto the left picture?
I did try lighting effect -- I don't understand that tool.
I tried many things -- nothing I liked.
Any ideas??

Hi There

There is a color shift and brightness difference between the two shots.

Many ways to solve this issue...I decided to use levels.

I first used the info tool and clicked on the right leg of the right picture..by the way what a lovely girl...I made note of the RGB values If I remember they were around R-161 G-116 and B-93.

Because your new background does not contain the color shift I made a selection of the little girl on the left using the selection brush.

I then opened a levels adjustment layer... the selection was transferred to the attached mask so adjustments I made would only affect the girl.

I then sampled on the leg of the girl left in the same area as the girl right. In the levels dialog box I used the channel drop box to choose the red channel. Using the center slider and checking the info box I changed the value to R-161... Then changed the channel drop box to green and changed its value to 116 and blue to 93.

This matched the colors in girl left with girl right fairly well. If you need to change the contrast change the channel to RGB and move the end sliders to suit. If your selection is off click on the mask and use black or white brushes to adjust. And of course you have the levels layer opacity to adjust.

The hair is a problem on the picture left because some of the color was lost to black so I selected some of the hair picture right and rotated and used picture left...and finished with a little cloning.

Then a little healing brush to blend the background.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

Butch

Hi Butch,
what you did is absolutely fantastic.
I didn't have much hope, but this is brilliant.
Thank you so much.
I saved your instructions.
Have no knowledge of channels, but will start now.
The way you explained it makes complete sense.
I tried to colorize the legs and face - because of the underlying color it wasn't so great.
Your hair transplant is super. I didn't even know where to start.

I guess I will do a redo.
For now I posted my completed picture(before Butch) in the gallery.
Thanks again.
Marie
