Hi,

I downloaded some music to be used in a project. When I tried to bring it into Premiere Elements it said that the file format was not supported. I have done this in the past without any hiccups. I'm guessing that I need to change way the music is encoded before I burn it to CD. Any thoughts on this? What format should I be shooting for?

What version of Premiere Elements are you using now? What version did you use before?

The following shows the Import/Export support list for Premiere Elements 4, just in case that is what you are using.

You should think about targeting for .mp3 or .wav. I did a quick Internet search for .mp4 to .mp3 conversion and came up with this thread.

I have not done this conversion, but I am speculating, just speculating, on the following routes:

1. Burn the .mp4 to a CD
2. Rip the .mp4 from CD using Windows Media Player. Hopefully, the result with be the .wav version.
OR
3. Rip the .mp4 from CD to the iTunes Library and convert to .mp3 there.

But check out the link above as well as the links within the links.

To be continued, if necessary.

ATR,

Thanks for the suggestion. I am using Premiere Elements 3.0. After a number of failures I took the easy route and found what I was looking for as an MP3 file and it worked great.
