I just finished editing my daughters wedding pictures. Down to 314 from close to 400 shots. I put them into Collections ( PSE 5) so that I could arrange them in the order I wanted. Wedding prep, ceremony, formals, reception, etc. Then I burned a dvd. I selected all > file > copy/move offline > next > done. and it burned the dvd.
When I opened it up, the first 21 pictures were from the reception. then it put the rest in the order I had chosen. All was shot on the same card. When I looked closer, I saw that the file names were CSC _ _ _ _ .
All of the other pictures were and as far as I can tell always have been a DSC file. I have no clue what a CSC file is or how it became one. It's not even an option choice when I save my edits.
Anyone have an answer to this puzzle? I hope so.

On my Nikon D80, CSC files are files adjusted in the camera somehow (e.g red-eye removal, D-lighting adjustment, etc.)

Thanks Bill, you were right on. Those were the shots I had used the D lighting on my D80. Now if i could just figure out if there is a way to burn the a disc and keep it in the order I choose.
I like using the D lighting affect sometimes, but I guess I'll just do the corrections in Photoshop instead from now on.

Discs generally default to filename order.

Use File>Export choosing the option to rename with common base name. This names all of the exported images in collection order: basename001, basename002, etc.

Depending on your source photos and how you plan to use the exported files you may wish to use the format or sizing options in export as well.

On my system (XP/Album2(Organizer)) if I choose my CD as the destination folder Organizer will burn and close the cd.

If I choose a folder on the desktop or elsewhere, I later burn it with the xp burning software and have a choice whether or not to close the cd. It also gives me a chance to put together several folders and readme text files before I burn to my cd.

I believe that when you burn a disc, the files are in "Windows" order. Karin Sue is correct that File->Export can solve your problem. To keep the files in the order you want, you could create a slideshow or photobook or other creation in PSE, and then burn that to a CD/DVD.

Regarding D-Lighting in the Nikon D80, I have decided that I prefer the adjustments in the PSE Editor that I can make instead of the in-camera adjustments by the D80 (plus you can undo the edits if you want).

When editing with D Lighting in camera, does the process overwrite the original file in the camera, or save as a duplicate with the D Lighting settings? If it is the latter, then the original files should still be there, in fact may have been put in on the DVD in their proper order, and the CSC...files were added tot he disk as well. If using the D lighting function overwrites the original "as shot" then I wouldn't mess with it in camera until I dumped the originals to the my computer. I can't imagine trying to adjust anything using the tiny LCD panel on the back of the camera.

I just checked my D80 manual an it says that it is making retouched copies on the memory card, so I suspect that the original files were still there until deleted.

Editing with D lighting makes a new file and will show it right after the original. In fact there are 3 levels of enhancement available. You could shoot the "original" and then have 3 additional showing the 3 different levels. But there's one hitch. If you go back to review your shots at a later time, say the end of the day, any of the shots that you apply the D Lighting to then, will not be next to the original but is sent to the end of the row.
As far as the CSC file goes, I found that if I go back to the CSC file in PS editor and hit "save as", I just change CS to DS and I'm back to a DCS file again.

It still makes more sense to me to forget about using D-Lighting in the camera and make your edits in PSE using Enhance->Adjust Lighting->Shadows/Highlights, you get better results, and this "ordering of photos" problem doesn't appear.
