Runtime error

I am new to PSE6. After installing and adding old photos to catalog, have encountered runtime error along with - Exception unknown software esception (0xc000000d) occured in the application @ location 0x78138aa0. Simple fixes of re-installing with antivirus software and with new user profile have not resolved error. Any suggestions?
