Hi,

I recently moved from PC to Mac. Now, I'm looking for a way to transfer my photos (including tags) from PE5 (PC) to PE6 (Mac).
So, I was wondering if anyone could provide some guidance.
BTW-I'm not planning on using iPhoto.

Many thanks!

Elvin

Hi Elvin ...

.. and welcome to the Village :)

Are you just planning to use Bridge ?? ... I know that some people have found a way to transfer the database to iPhoto but I don't if that would work with Bridge or not ??

Many thanks, Wendy.

I'm not sure yet, since I just switched to Mac.
I'll continue to use Elements to "edit" my photos. However, I just found out that there is actually no "Organizer" functionality for Mac-versions.
So, as far as I know, the only options to organize photos are iPhoto and Bridge, correct?!?
If that's the case, I'd prefer Bridge just in case I decide to move back to PC (you never know...).

Any recommendations/suggestions?
I appreciate any thoughts you could share.

Once again, many thanks for your assistance.

Elvin

Wendy or others, isn't the PSE Organizer just a variant of Adobe Photoshop Album, and since you can get Album for Mac(*), couldn't OP load photos from the PC Organizer into Mac Album?

Album is Windows only. It is based on Access which is a Windows only database program.

Too bad. I guess the listing I saw with those platforms listed was wrong.

Elvin ...

Whilst iPhoto has some simple editing features its main use is as an Organiser for your images. I don't use the editing features at all and I suspect that most other Mac users don't either :)

Thanks Wendy, Karin and Jon.
This is very helpful.

So, just to make sure I got it right, it is NOT possible to transfer tags/albums from PE5 (PC) to Bridge (Mac)?
If that's the case, I guess I would have to create my tags/albums in Bridge from scratch.

I'm planning to continue to use PE for "editing", but would like to avoid using iPhoto for "organizing", and use an Adobe software (flexibility to switch between PC and Mac).

Many thanks.

You can write your tags to file from Organizer and they will show up as keywords on your photo file in most formats. I think both Bridge & iPhoto read keywords.

Only tags, not categories and subcategories, will be written so if you want those you will need to make corresponding tags. The same for collections(albums).

There have been several threads on iphoto, bridge, and organizer. Several from people moving from PC to Mac. You might want to do some forum searches on this forum and the adobe user forum.
