View pictures in organizer in Full Screen mode

Is there a way to view photos in a full screen mode (picture takes the whole monitor space) when viewing with the organizer?

Perhaps not in full screen but there is a slider bottom right of the screen that will change from many to one only. Did you want to surpass the one only view? :)

If you have PSE 3, then read about "Photo Review" in the Help topics. It is an almost full screen and you can close the panel on the right side and make the controls really small.

In PSE 4, it is almost the same, is actually more full screen and is called full screen view (use View Menu).

Both versions have something called Photo Compare that places 2 photos side by side or one above the other that I think is very good for deciding which of two (or several) photo is better. You can easily switch to it from Photo Review/Full Screen view.
