Brushes only have selection mode

I can not figure out why my brush set is stuck as a (selection)for its properties under the mode box. I played around and now I have mask and selection only. Where did the normal mode go. I can not paint. everytime I try and use a brush it does a selection instead of being able to paint. Can you please help. I think it all started when I made a copyright brush last week. Now I see that is gone too. What gives

It sounds like you're using the selection brush (8th from the top of the tools). Try the brush tool that's closer to the bottom, right above the paint bucket. HTH!:)

I finally figured it out. I came back to the post to delete it and had seen a post. By the way the post was right. wish it had come earlier, anyway thanks and problem solved.

Its an easy mistake to make and I think most of us have done it at some time or another :)
