My problem is that I do not have enough time to spend with PSE just figuring out the basics. So, when I get into the editor during a free moment, I have snags like this.

I take a photo, click standard edit, get into standard edit and make a copy of the image, then I start editing. The editing part is going great. I have my fixed image. I save it. Then I want to go back to the organizer and get another photo to edit. The photo that I saved has a "locked" signal on it. I cannot seem to get rid of that unless I exit the editor. So, I exit the editor. I get another photo and repeat above steps.

How does one work seamlessly between the organizer and standard edit? Work on one photo, save it, go get another (without the "lock" icon)?

Is there a tutorial for a newbie on these basics?

p.s. I have Scott Kelby's wonderful book and DVD. Indeed, I have his book open on my desk while I am in the editor. I have numerous other books on PSE. None deal with this simple aspect of how to save a photo and then move within and without the editor and organizer. I have had this problem from day one. Embarrassed to admit that I have not figured it out yet. I am hoping someone has a tip or two for me?

p.s.s. I am going to take an on-line class soon, however, I want to be able to master some basics first.

Hi Marie - when you are in edit mode you can use the X on the right end of the title bar for the picture or you can go to File | Close and it will close just the picture. Once the picture closes you can go back to organizer and the picture will no longer have the lock display.

Hope that helps. :)

That seems simple. I will try that. Thanks.

The technique I use on my Windows machine is to RIGHT CLICK on the image in the file bin and choose close, it will prompt a save and then you're back on track in organizer as well.
