I JUST got a new Dell XPS PC and am really pumped. However I thought I saw a post that their are some issues with PSE5 & Vista. Do I have anything to worry about? Thanks :(

PSE5 will work with Vista, however, you will need to update it to version 5.02. You can find the update here (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3569).

PSE will be OK (per above note), but you made the same mistake I did - bought a new computer with Vista. Dumb move on my part. I was forewarned but didn't believe it.

I also have a Dell XPS with Vista and love it. I do have PSE 6.0 and have no issues at all. It does take a little time to get used to, but I would not go back to XP. It's still on my laptop and I am considering switching.
I know that there are alot people here that don't like Vista, but I have found it easier once I got used to it. I do remember all the complaints from Windows 98 to XP and I do not know anyone who would want to go back to 98.
So Good luck with your new PC.

My wife has a laptop XPS M1530 with vista. It came preinstalled with PSE 6 and Premier 4 (Thank you Dell). The only problem we have is that the editor slows to a crawl if there is a network printer (ours is wirelessly connected). You need to install or select a print driver that is not on a network. You don't need an actual printer just install a driver through the printer setup routine in the control panel if you don't already have one. Be sure and change back when you are done with the elements editor.
I have an xps 410 desktop with XP. It flies even though it has less memory. I attribute that to a raid 0 setup that allows the computer to write to two harddrives that it sees as only one (C:/ Drive). I also like the core 2 duo processors. You can now truely do two tasks at the same time and you barely notice any slowdown-not so on my old single core. I have had this one for about a year and a half. It's the only PC I have ever owned that I didn't want to replace after a year because it slowed down.

A lot of people do complain about switching to new OS versions when they come out because they are full of bugs and released before ready. Vista was way not ready. Always happy for anyone for whom it works fine. Generally if you have a standalone computer not on a network you may be OK (if you ignore the silly graphical features that hog your RAM and CPU). If you try to get a network to work across Vista, esp. XP to Vista, good luck.
