Im relatively new to Premiere but have successfully created some decent videos in the past.
My current project though is causing me no end of grief.
Each time I go to burn on dvd the program crashes. I have defragmented, run virus scans, have no other applications running. Its happened at least 10 times.
I cannot seem to find any obvious reason for this. Im using Vista, 4gb of ram and 320gb hard disk.
If anyone has experience similar problem could you help me try and solve this frustrating problem?
Thanking you all in advance.
Anna :)

There is no Premiere Elements 6. The latest version is Premiere Elements 4 which can be marketed with Photoshop Elements 6. So, please define what you have. Also, by any chance are you sending a Photoshop Elements 6 slideshow to Premiere Elements 4 for burning to DVD? If so, how are you sending it?
What exactly is the content of your current project that is giving you burning problems? Besides the source and content (video/format & stills/format & audio/format), how long is this project?
Is the problem targeting just this one project? If you open a new project and do a mini run through, is the problem still there?
Depending on your answers, have you tried the burn to folder route, followed by using a software like Nero or Record Now to burn the saved folder to DVD?
That is sort of a mixture of ideas. Let us see if we can pin point the solution to the problem.

Ok..this is what I have done so far...
1. Tried burning smaller project..same results..crashed when attempting to burn.
2. Unistalled Premiere, then installed. Attempted burning..same problem...crashed again.
3. Im not using Photoshop Elements. All my editing of images are done through CS3 and each image is saved as a jpg 640x480.
4. The contents of my video consists of approxiately 500 still images. Have applied the Memory Box Theme to it. Several audio files and overlaying text
5. The total size of project is 3.7gb
6. Im not familiar with burn to folder route. I do have nero. Could you give me advice on how to burn to folder route?
Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I greatly appreciate it.

I am not sure right now what all that means. But, moving forward....
1. Here is some reading material from the Adobe TechNotes
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402332&sliceId=2
Also, a FAQ from over there:
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c057647
Also have you tried the Burn To Disc route using a slideshow to which the Movie Theme feature has been left out? I have to look into that, but my recollection is that those Movie Themes use a lot of system resources. It could be that this is tipping you over the edge in view of your large slideshow. Where are your scratch files directed, Same As Project, or external hard drive with NTFS? When you said that you tried a smaller slideshow for troubleshooting purposes, exactly how much smaller is the small slideshow?
2. Here goes Burning To Folder
a. Premiere Elements 4. Create your project, Share, Disk, Select DVD, Burn to Folder 4.7 GB. Under Quality leave the check mark next to Fit Contents to Disc. Make a note of what the numbers are in the Quality area Space Required____MB(Bitrate___Mbps). Hit Burn.
b. When the process is complete you will find a folder saved to the hard drive location that you designated before you hit Burn. Keys to success remembering name and location that you designated for this saved folder. It is the VIDEO_TS folder in this saved folder that you are going to burn to a DVD with the Nero software.
c. Nero StartSmart Interface. DVD mode, Copy & Backup Tab, Burn Image to Disc category which brings up the Nero Express interface, "What do you want to do?", select DVD-VIDEO files, via ADD add only the VIDEO_TS from the hard drive saved location, hit Finish, make sure you designate your burner, hit burn.
Check it out to make sure that I have not left out any vital steps. Let me if you want me to clarify any of the details. Also, you mentioned 3.7 GB of project. What does that represent in time...if 500 stills + transitions, maybe 50 minute, more???

ATR, Thank you for the links. At the present, Im just burning to a folder like you described...so far so good.
Seems like this may be the way to go.
I love this program. It offers so much diversity and variety compared to a lot of other programs available. Just awfully frustrating when things go wrong.
Thank you once again for you time and patience with me :):)
P.s. the length of the project is 59 minutes. You were pretty spot on

Like another post where the user is having problems burning to disc, it does not sound like a program issue if you can burn to folder with Premiere Elements.
As usual I will keep thinking out this one. Please update us with your progress.
Good luck.
