This may sound absurd, but I have a digital photo frame and when I try to display my pictures they "freeze" up the frame. I've called PanDigital for tech support and they said that because I use Adobe to edit photos that even though they show in Windows as a jpeg file, they are not actually a baseline jpeg file therefore do not display correctly. The solution they said is to re-save my pictures that have been altered as a baseline jpeg rather than whatever secret ninja type of jped Adobe saves them as (even though Adobe and Windows say jpeg).
Has anyone ever heard of this? And how do you do it? I don't have an option like that when I do a 'Save As'. I am using PS Elements 4.

You might try using save for web.
Or, get a copy of irfanview and do a resave with that.

There was a bit of chatter about this around the holidays when a lot of people were giving/getting these frames. Some people (myself included) found that images saved using Save for Web did not work in the frame at all. In my case, they just didn't load into the frame. Not exactly what you are describing. I'd suggest resizing in PSE and just doing a "save" rather than "save for web" and see if that works.

I don't know if this will help, but I just tried saving a jpeg in PSE6 to see what the options are. When I did a "save as" and chose jpeg as the format there was a dialogue box that gave 3 options..."baseline(standard)", "baseline(optimized)" and "progressive". Mine is set for "baseline(standard)" and all the images I've saved for my digital frames work just fine. This choice is "sticky" and if you change it it's applied to all saved jpegs until you change it to another setting. I think this is the same for all versions of PSE. Is yours set to "baseline(standard)"? Maybe the "optimized" or "progressive" save isn't compatible somehow?

Thanks for the advice everyone.
1. I've verified that the PSE save as dialog box is set to 'Baseline (standard)'; tried the frame again with those pictures; no luck
2. I've tried 'Save for Web'; tried the frame again with those pictures; no luck
3. I've reformatted the CF card; tried the frame again; no luck
4. I've reformatted the frame; tried the frame again; no luck
Now I'm really stuck! The pictures will scroll nicely for about 10 of them and then they freeze. I bought the frame last fall and just now got around to setting it up so unfortunately there is no warranty left and they basically told me sorry, yes I did waste $200 on something that doesn't even work right.
I know this may not be the right forum for this but if there are any other thoughts I'd appreciate it....all the others so far have been good!

One of the things I found with my frame (a Kodak) is that it works much better if you size the pictures to fit the frame in Elements rather have the frame do it. My frame resolution is 800x480 pixels so I crop to that size in Elements. I've had it freeze up when trying to use images straight from the camera with much larger pixel dimensions - and I'm sure Elements downsizing is better than the downsizing the frame does.

Are you sure your images don't exceed a size limit of the frame (stated limit or one that just kicks in not disclosed by the mfgr)? Have you tried saving the same image as one that froze but at 72 dpi and <500k? I don't think those things have much RAM to process images with.

Hi,
I, too, have a PanDigital frame. My frame came with software "Optipix" or something like that. I use the software to optimize the jpg for the frame, which creates a smaller-sized duplicate for the CF card/frame and it works beautifully. My frame is a 9" and it came with the free software, or code to upload it from the internet, i forget which way I accessed it. Feel free to PM me and when I get home after work, I can send you more detailed info when I'm at my home computer.

Ok, so I FINALLY got it working!
Even though the instructions said, and PanDigital support told me that the pictures could be up to 2mb I found that if I compressed them all to <500kb then I don't seem to have the 'freezing' issue anymore. There was one picture that it kept getting stuck on though, even though it was under 500kb, so I deleted and haven't had the issue since.
Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions!
