Welcome to the Forums !!

You either need extra tools for masking, or use an Adjustment layer in Mask mode to hide, with a gradient, part of an image from another.

I will try to do a short movie on this. Come back in 10 minutes :-D

Hi there ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

To merge two images together you need a mask ... Elements doesn't have masks but here is a workaround.

Open up one of your images and add the other to it
Now you have two layers
Open up the layers palette and click on the bottom layer
Now do Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue & Saturation and click OK (don't change any of the setting just accept them)
You should now have three layers with the Hue & Sat layer the middle one ... if not just drag it into place
Now group the Hue & Sat layer with the top layer ... to do that place your cursor on the line between the two layers (in the layers palette) hold down alt and click ... a little arrow will appear in the layers palette.
Set your foreground/background colours to Black & White
Click on the white square of the H&S layer in the Layers Palette
Now select the gradient tool
Set it to Linear gradient (the little boxes at the top of the screen)
and set it to Foreground to Background (the picture of the gradient at the top of the screen)
Now drag the gradient across the screen ..

You pictures should blend together ... you can also use a soft paint brush.

Your screen and layers palette should look like this:

Alternatively you can download a mask addon from the Subscribers Area ... but that is PSE3 only.

If you get stuck ... just ask :)

Hi indrekots and welcome

I just read your question and looked at your image - do you mean that you have 2pictures that you would like to join as a panorama? That would be different but easy.

Go to File |Create Photomerge in PSE 2 or File | New | Photomerge Panorama in PSE 4.

Let us know if you get your project done :)

Wendy, you said:

Where in the Subscribers Area is that? I went to the download section and didn't see anything. Did I miss it?

It's in the Subscriber's area, under Extras, Volume 2 Number 3.

It takes just about the same amount of time to make, though :)

Thanks Ray. I found it. Not to sound too dense but what folder do I unzip it to?

Michael ...

When you double click on it ... it will unzip itself onto the desktop.

To install ... go back to the subscribers area (same place you downloaded it) and you will see a Video ... that shows you how and where to do the install. Its a bit complited so its easier to watch the video :)

Wendy-
When I double click it the zip file opens up but doesn't unzip itself anywhere. I went looking in the Newsletter Extra section but I didn't see a video explaining the installation process. Was I looking in the wrong area?

Micheal, look at the left bar, top, there's an Extract Everything button (or link). I could post an image, but it's in french...

I extracted them to an empty folder on my desktop. I just don't know how to install them from the folder. Sorry Wendy but I can't find the video about installing them. At the moment I have a folder with a bunch of ATN files. I did a search for ATN files but I found them in all kinds of folders so I'm not sure where these belong.

Thanks Ray. It couldn't have been more obvious if it had a flashing neon sign that said, "Look At Me".

I really appreciate how patient everyone here is. Sometimes I feel really slow on the up-take but you all are so encouraging. It makes me really glad I subscribed. :D

Michael, we each learn at our own speed it's ok this way. I may be fast at graphics, but I wouldn't know how to handle a hammer :-D

... unless to "show the inner" of a Nikon camera, that is

Michael ...

There are so many different things on this site that until you find your way about it can be confusing.

Whenever you are stuck with anything just ask .. there is usually someone around who will talk you through it:)
