hi, I often browse through the gallery to get ideas and I was wondering if there was a way to contact the people that post there to see how they did their work. Thanks Rick

Rick -- at the bottom of each post there are buttons for contacting -- you can PM someone and they'll usually reply. You can also post your comments and requests directly in a thread and you'll get answers and also more ideas show up this way -- since people enjoy sharing their ideas and processes.
Just put it under General and you'll get a reply.

Rick ...
Another way is to post the query in the PET Gallery subforum ... that way we all get to see how they did it :)
I always like hearing how people did their effects ..

Wendy - where is the PET gallery sub forum please? B Cory has a photo with bubbles - would like to know how to do that - do you know. Your mini tutorials are great - all printed and in my folder. Jean

Jean ...
Sorry about the confusion ... :)
I always work on the principle that this is the PET forum so all of the sections in it are sub forums (or if we stick to Latin fora :))
So I just mean the section headed up ...
Photoshop Elements Techniques Subscriber Gallery.
I have found that if you put a message in there asking how people do there images then they usually reply.

Thanks Wendy - just put a message on for B Cory.
On your mini tut on kaleidescopes - is there any way I can use one of my photos? I have done that in scrapbooking and used four prints and four reversed copies. Doing it on the computer seems easier. Jean

Hi Jean ...
It will work fine with any image so a photo will be OK ...
but it is a lot easier to use a plug in instead, doing it manually is a long job ... Windows users can get a free plug in from here:

hi Jean ...
What you do is:
Download the zip file and then extract it to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 3.0\Plug-Ins\Filters.
Restart Elements and the plug-in will appear in Editor under Filter > Mehdi > Kaleidoscope 2.1
Do let us know how you go on :)

Thanks Wendy. What an interesting effect.
Now - do I treat all downloads the same way - do they all go into Filters - or does it depend what they are. For instance Jodi's frames - where would they go - into Layers and Frames.

Jean ...
Different things go in different folders: ..
An easy way of checking is to look for the same file endings ... for example:
Brushes go in Presets>Brushes and all the file endings are .abr
Styles go in Presets>Styles and all the endings are .asl
The exceptions are Plug ins which may install in a variety of different ways and Actions which are not always possible to install (edven if they are then installing is totally different)
Jodi's frames are styles which need to go in Presets>Styles
Hope this helps ... :)

Hi Janis ...
Go to the Subscriber Area ... then scroll down until you see Downloads (its on the left hand side) ... click on that and you will see Jodi's frames :)

 Hi Wendy, I downloaded the frames. I found the file, but I can't find the preset/styles. I am totally confused w/this and I feel foolish always asking, but I'll bite the bullet and ask anyway  Help, where are they

Hi Janis ...
First unzip the file then Go to your PSE3 folder (or PSE4 if you are using that)
Look around in there and you should see a folder marked presets ... open that folder and you should see another folder marked styles. Just drop the .asl file that you downloaded into there ... :)
