PSE 5 did not support any non-local drives that were on a network. Older versions did.

Does the newer version PSE 6 support network drives?

Thank you.

Check out this link for the Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for Windows Read Me. Toward the bottom is a note of Network Support.

"Network Support
You can access photos from network drives if they are mapped to a drive letter or if you use a valid share name, but Adobe Photoshop Elements cannot store any of its working files on network drives."

Here are some links that I found from the Photoshop Elements User to User Forum at Adobe:

Also check out the comments on 5 version with network and see if they were doing something different than what you tried with 5.

I am a technical support person representing clients that do/might use PSE 6.

The product capabilities are great -- right in the sweet spot of what the clients want.

Lack of network support for common file storage makes the product unusable for all of them.

This is truly unfortunate -- network support is a base level requirement for most home users with multiple systems and an absolute necessity for any business users because of backup and security issues.

Looks like the product has regressed for some reason.

The Adobe Product Management folks should 'get real' instead of driving customers away.

I do not read the first quote as a lack of network support. I can edit pictures which are located on my laptop with the desktop PC just fine. I mapped the appropriate location (SharedDocs) to a network drive (Z ).

The drive with its subfolders will show up in Elements' Open dialog box. Saving to that location is no problem either.
