hi all
When I make a blank file and try to type something the font is unreadable.
It is so tiny you can not see what you write. I have to go up a 30 to see anything.
Is my text tool damaged? In microsoft word the font size is normal so i know its not in my system.
Is this a common fault or just my program?

What size is your document? If the document is too large then your text will be proportionately small. It depends on what size you want the text to appear on your finished project as to what size to use. For example, if you have an 8x10 inch document then fonts of 12, 14, or 18 are going to look a bit small . If you have a 4 x6 inch document, then those same fonts will look very large. If an 8x10 document is zoomed to 100% the font will look larger than an 8x10 document zoomed to say 25% but will print relative to the actual size of the document. You just have to experiment a little to see the text at the proper size in relation to your finished document.

To clarify the font size.
Your font will appear and print the same exact size in any size document as long as all the documents are the same resolution.
If you view all the documents at 100% magnification you will see that a 14 pt font will all match in size.
Also, no matter what magnification you view the documents, when you print the fonts will all come out the same size. 14 pt will print 14 point in any size printed document, provided all the documents where the same resolution.
