Blends don't blend

Hi, I wanted to do something really colorful and springtimey.
Got hung up on how to emphasize the page curl/ sod curl.
I wanted to do a progression of spring flowers.
From snow drops to tulips.
In theory that's ok but I could not get the individual pictures to blend.
Ended up making a composit and erasing -- nah.
The water drops are a brush. I really like it.
Don't know if white to gray is the way to go.
Critique, comments, advice??
Is that sod curl even a good idea?
