I am trying to capture analog Hi8 vedeo into Premiere. My camera is connected to my computer through a Canopus ADVC110 Video converter. I keep getting an error message - "Recorder Error - Maximun File Size Exceded". What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
Can you connect your camera directly to you pc without the converter?
Sounds like its a problem with the converter and I am not familiar with that one, I'll see if I can find some info on it.

At what point in the process are you getting the error?
Can you please also post some specs of your computer (especially details of your hard drive configuration and available free space)?

I can not connect directly to my computer. I must connect thru a converter. The capture procedure seems to work correctly using Nero Express ( a copy came with my computer so I thought I would give it a try).
The error message occurs at about 8 minutes into the capture. Every thing works great up to that point.
I am running windows XP Prof. ver 2002. I am saving my video files to an external 200 GB hard drive.

Is you external hard drive formatted as NTSC? Judging from your problem I would guess its not. If your drive is formatted as FAT32, as I suspect is the case, you can only create a file up to 4GB due to limitations of the technology. To check if your drive is NTSC or FAT32, go into My Computer and right-click on your firewire drive. Select Properties. In the Properties dialog you should see a field for File System. That will tell you what you need to know.
If your drive is FAT32 and not NTSC, you will need to reformat it.
