I have been trying to use the Adjust Sharpness tool at the bottom of the Enhance Menu! What happens is, when I make adjustments in the pop up panel, the main image shows the adjustments but the smaller preview panel of the adjustment panel does not change. When I then finish making adjustments and click the OK button there is a pop up progress indicator showing that PSE6 is completing the operation. When that operation is complete I can not say any change on the original photo image. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Appreciate the help!

Just tried it. Found have to wait quite some time for it to show in the preview window and if clicked ok before window showed change did not see any change, but if waited for change in preview, then change applied. I think the unsharp mask filter is faster.

I've been using High Pass lately and I've really liked the results. I read about it somewhere but I can't remember where.

On a duplicate layer apply High Pass Filter at about 60 pixels. Apply blend mode Overlay and reduce the opacity of the layer to between 15-25% depending on the image.

I have been taking a lot of lacrosse pictures lately. The uniforms have a fine mess pattern. When I adjust sharpness in the editor, the mess appears pixelated. The results looked horrible and I would cancel process. One time I left it as it was and saved and closed the image. It looked perfect in the organizer. Has anyone else experienced this?

That's common and it's because you are viewing the image at less than full size in the editor. When you sharpen make sure you have the zoom size set at 100% although if you have a large image that you plan to print viewing at 50% should also work, The problem comes when when you view the image at an odd zoom size. The Organizer recreates a thumbnail image after you've edited and that corrects the "quick thumbnail" view the Editor uses to speed up the process. You can aslo run into the problem if you're running short on memory.

If you can it's always best to use Enhance Sharpness (with the Remove set to Lens Blur) and the More Refined box checked. It's equivalent to Smart Sharpen in full Photoshop and works better (although slower) than the Unsharp Mask. Once it's done its thing zoom the main window to 100% and do an Undo then Redo and you'll see the change it's made clearly (and quickly).
