I could sure use some help. I tried fixing this myself with terrible results - I used adjustment color curves in PE 5.0 but it's just not working.
Does anyone have a link that I can review to help fix this picture.
Thanks,
Kathy

Kathy,
Is the thumnail you posted the original picture..if not post the original so that we can see it.
If it is, I have played with it without much luck (I am also relatively new). Maybe one of the old hands can help.

Kathy, it's hard to tell if there is any color information in the photo. Is it a color photo? I have never seen a color cast like that, but it may be some sort of severe white balance problem that made it look this way.
Do you have any first hand info about the the photo? Is it a print from a negative, and do you have the negative? Is it a scanned image?
A bit more info might help.

looks like a b/w to me. I am using PSE6 - filter->adjustments->Gradient Map.
then went to Enhance->adjust lighting->levels and moved black slider to right.
I don't believe it is a color photo - unless a really old one that has lost it all.
That's my take (poor or bad - not sure).

I tried posting the original picture but it wouldn't load because it exceeded the size that can be posted on the forum.

My sister took the picture about 10 years about with a 35 mm camera and I don't think it is supposed to be black and white - really strange isn't it.

Hi Kathy ...
Upload the full sized image to Pixentral (http://www.pixentral.com/index.php)
Then once it has uploaded scroll down and copy the URL below the image (the one marked Forums) ... then past it into a message here :)

I took a quick look at the image and it is in colour ... but I suspect that the lighting in the room was poor and the flash didn't work.

Wendy, I think you found the problem - the flash didn't go off. Thanks for your advice, I uploaded the picture - here's the link:

A tough one. I'd start with either a hue/saturation layer or enhance>color variations and experiment.

I'd go the easy route and turn it into a b/w photo and then adjust the levels for mare clarity - and use it as a b/w photo.
