I have been using a method for soft effects that Jodi Frye posted on August 29. The method used a layer mask plug-in that worked in PET3. I have installed PET4 and was wondering (i) does this method still work in PET4? I think that there is no reason it should not, but either I have missed a step or it doesn't work in PET4. (ii) the PET Productivity plug-ins for PET3 do not work in PET4 (oh joy, oh bliss). How do I work around not having a layer mask? Better yet, is there a layer mask plug-in for PET4?
Thanks

Hi there ...
Jodi's effect should still work in PSE4 ... where are you having problems with it?
Now layer masks ... the only way, at the moment, is to use a workaround.
Here is a link to a tutorial on workarounds for Layer Masks ...

Thanks. I will try the work around. I am not sure where I am getting lost, frankly, as I have used the technique in the past with some success. I will give it another go and use the work around. Out of interest, do you know of any reason why the layer mask is not standard on Elements? It is so useful.
