So, this was too fun not to share. Long story short, I won a copy of a program called Camtasia Studio last spring. It records screen movies, not at all unlike the video tuts in the Subscriber Area.
After playing around a bit, I saw that this could be a great tool for me as a computer teacher. Kids are always asking for help, reminding, etc. on various skills, techniques, and so on that we cover. They either forget, or were absent, or asleep...anyway, I figured I could record some of these things, post 'em on my web site (or give them access to the files over our network) and BINGO! they have the help they need any time they want (of course, I would still be avialable).
Fast forward to now: I just finished recording my own PSE "tutorial!"--it's a project in one of the Kelby books. The test run will be tomorrow. If we can get the technical side of things to work, it'll be interesting to see (a) if the kids like it, (b) if they are able to follow and understand, and (c) how long it takes before I realize I'll need to buy headsets for each workstation.
It was a lot of fun! :D The PET folks must have a blast making those (or do they get tedious after 80 or so?). It is a bit time-consuming. I'll have to look for ways to streamline things.
The tutorial was the Polaroid one. Here's the end product, if you care to take a peek.
