I have tried several times to get my text to animate in Premiere Elements 4. I did notice that the apply button and the remove button were both grayed out and not working. Help!!! Please!!! :p

I suspect that the problem is that you may not be clicking on the Text Animation that you want (you should see a blue border around the one that you clicked on).

Try this little test...
1. Open a new project
2. Timeline View
3. Click on T (Add default text) icon at bottom right of Monitor to bring up the Titler interface.
4. Click on the Text Animation that you want. You should see a blue border around the Text Animation that you selected. Then, for example:
Under Fades
Angular Fade Out (Apply should not be faded out, so click Apply). Click Preview-Title XX and run the preview to see if that is what you wanted. If not Remove and try another Text Animation. When you like the Text Animation, click done.

See how that goes.

:o Well, I was getting the blue box for the text animation, and I was doing all the things you suggested, and after reading your post, I saw one thing I was not doing.......I was trying to apply the animation after I added the text....reading your reply, I added the animation first and then the text and it worked. Thanks for the quick reply.

Pam,

Glad to hear it worked. I do not want to mess with a good thing, but.....

The example that I gave used as your text the words "Add Text" that appears when the Titler interface appears. Since it was just a quick test, I did not have you bother with typing in text of your own. Rather than have you replace "Add Text" text with text of your own, my next suggested step was highlighting the Text Animation of your choice, Apply, etc.

It sounded like you got it to serve you purposes by going the reverse route. Try typing your text first, then applying your Text Animation via Highlight Animation/Apply/Done.

Experiment and let me know what happens.

Here is a very nice article on text animation

I've been on vacation, sorry this is a little late, but you will most likely be able to learn something new from the article anyway :)
