Hi -

I am having problems with pictures printing out at an incorrect size. My camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XT. Once I get the pictures into Elements 4.0, I normally size them to 4x6 (which makes them 576 ppi). My printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R320. When I printed a bunch of pictures recently, some printed out at 4x6, but others printed out 3.75x6. The problem happens whether I use the Elements template or create one of my own.

It's driving me crazy trying to figure out what is causing that to happen. Where is that extra 1/4 inch? There seems to be no logical explanation with the excepting, of course, of operator error (probably). I can't understand what I'm doing wrong. Help!

The aspect ratio of a photo just out of the camera is likely to by 3x4. If you are not specifically croping to 2x3 (4x6) you are letting software do it for you. Generally during print there will be a check box somewhere asking whether to crop to fit (paper filled, some of the image gone) or fit image to paper(all of the image plus white space).

So I suppose that is one possible explanation. Cropping/Not cropping letting the software print command crop.

You are getting 3.75x6 images which is a 5x8 aspect ratio.

Another possiblity is your printer. My hp will not print within about 1/2" of the bottom(portrait) right(landscape) edge. 4 x 6 paper with tab works great. If I use just 4x6 I get the white band on the edge and no warning from the printer.

So to figure out your problem:
How are you processing/cropping you photos before print?
What size paper are you printing on?
What is different about the times you get 4x6 prints from the times you get 3.75x6 prints?
Are you printing from Organizer or Editor?
