View Full Version : Track the Newsletter
Mary
October 27th, 2005, 03:45 PM
So we can track who is getting the newsletter - there is a map tracking tool that I just learned about on Digital Life. You can go to the link and enter your zip code etc when yours arrives. This will definitely help to keep track of who is buying the drinks! :)
http://www.frappr.com/petnewsletter
The site appears to be easy to navigate - zoom into an area etc - it might be fun to try it out. (mine hasn't arrived yet but I had to put something in to get it started).
So when your copy arrives - create a marker at your area.
Let us know what you think - it might be fun just to see where in the world we all are.

Aggravating! Unable to add my flag at right location.
We have a new Post Office & many web sites & companies have a problem with our new zip code. When I enter the correct zip code...it shoots back with "invalid zip".
Haven't rcvd the current copy of the newsletter yet, but when I do get it, it does have my correct code (so far).

I kept the same zoom and they are way closer than we are and you are maybe 2 hrs from me. But you have George just up the street, maybe 1/2 hour.
Just amazing what amuses us.  This is cool.
When Tony did the Google Earth thing a while ago I wondered if there was a way to mark our lat/long for the same reason. this seems easier.

This is an interesting concept except that using postal zones is too broad a perspective. The marker missed by 2 - 3 miles. This makes for a Silver Surfers geography class or as the song went: "Welcome to My World".

Hi Sherry - when you get to the site do you see the map? If you see the map you may have to go to the left side of the screen and use the + to zoom in and enlarge an area - then you can move around the world with the other controls in the same area. When you see the flags you will be able to click on them to see the name and message that the person put in. Let me know if that helps :) :)

So if any of my French friends want to track me down and beat me with any high quality wine bottles, you won't be able to find me because of Frappr.com. Sherry, your welcome.
That web-site is using the new Google Maps API and they obviously haven't got the coding quite right yet. It's not easy to get it right and it's very sensitive to the browser being used - some work OK, some don't work at all.
You can go direst to Google Maps itself at:
http://maps.google.com/
The direct access is much more stable but of course isn't personalized. Type an address, part of an address, postal code, question etc into the search box and if google has something you'll see it (try photoshop elements near Encinitas, CA for example!)

This is really neat to see where the fellow Elements users are. Found I had a "neighbor" in here. Richs is just across the river from me. Hi there!

George I enjoyed the movie once I realized that the teens weren't going to it!! I don't speed up hwy 12! I just go with the flow and hope not to get run over by a bloody gravel truck or transport.

At least the casino is an hour away here and they blast up the interstate. At least we have alternate routes.
