I have a canvas into which I copied and pasted a photograph and made it smaller by dragging the box in one of its corners many times.

I created a new layer, opened an image and copied and pasted it to the new layer. The image is gigantic and only about 5% of the upper left corner of the image fills the canvas. I would like to resize the image without all of the corner dragging and repositioning. So I highlight the image and go to Image/resize/image size, but am perplexed by this window. No matter what I change the Document Size width and height to, nothing happens?

ctctc,
You have to transform the object and not the whole image:

- First of all, make sure that the proper layer is selected in the Layers palette (1)
- Press [Ctrl+T] to activate Free Transform
- In the Options bar, put the registration point to the top left corner (2)
- Enter numerical value (e.g. 5%) in the Width field (3)
- Make sure "Constrain Proportions" gadget is checked (4)
- Commit the transformation

Wow, what a great answer! Thanks for the graphic too.

Please tell me, where did you get this information from? Perhaps I am reading from the wrong help file!
