I am trying to save a collage I made and I want to save it as a .jpeg or .gif so I can email it to share. But when I click save as is only gives me .png as an extension. Is there a way to save it with a different extension?
Thank you

Use file> save as
Under the line where you put the name of the project, there is a line (format) with a drop down menu - click on that and locate and highlight jpg

.png is the only option? No PSD or TIFF? If you have those options also, I would think your image is in 16 bit mode and needs to be converted to 8 bits.

dobeluvr,
I assume your collage file may also consist of multiple layers, which can be saved as the native PSD format, but if you really want to save as a JPG, you should Flatten (found in the layers pallet) all the layers into a single one. Remember that once flattened and saved the layers are lost once you leave PSE (you can always Undo) to get them all back after flattening during the same editing session.
I might suggest that once you think you are done with your project, do a Save As... and save as a native PSD format. Then Flatten, and do another Save As, this time selecting the JPG format found in the drop down list as mentioned by the previous reply. It is OK (and usually preferred) to use the same filename (the part in front of the extension, e.g, ".psd or ".jpg") since they are two different files that end up on the hard drive.

Jeff's advice about saving files in different formats is quite right. However, an image open in Elements, which has several layers, does not have to be flattened before being saved as JPEG. Of course, the layers will be lost in that version, but the option is available.

Juergen D is of course correct. My old workflow habits are hard to break.
If you choose to save a multi-layered file as a JPG (without flattening first), PSE6 will flatten it, saving it as a single-layered JPG and then return you back to where you were in your editing session with your multi-layered file in tact.
Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you all for great advice. I have to try and save it in a different format I think it is called R5? I may be wrong I'll have to look at the magazines specifications. I may be back with that question.
Thank you again!!!!! Your advice is very appreciated!!
