I just installed Premiere Elements 4 on my Toshiba. I am using a Toshiba Satellite A 105 laptop. I am running Windows XP Pro, Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2.0, 1.5 GB RAM, Intel Centrino Duo Processor 1.73 GH ea. The problem is that every time I try to start Premiere, my screen goes completely black, and I have to turn the computer off to get it back. I cannot stop the program or anything but turn it off. Please help. I tried to read other posts to get answers, but no one seems to be shutting down even before it starts.

Update your audio and graphics drivers. Make sure you get the most current, if your laptop has RealTek audio it very important that you do this.

Try CE's suggestions, but be careful updating your Realtek driver. Make sure you can roll back the new driver if it does not work.

I base that caution of an experience that I had recently. I was not having any problems with my computer and Photoshop Elements 3 and 6 and Premiere Elements 2 and 4, but I thought that I would update my Realtek driver. I let the computer browse for the latest and best one on the Internet. Mistake. The updated Realtek driver left me with NO sound at all in Premiere Elements. (I have Windows XP Professional, SP2).

I have to go looking for the thread that I think that I remember. It had to do with a conflict with Toshiba laptop drivers and Premiere Elements. While I search, please rule in or out the previous suggestions by CE.

I will be watching for your results and comments.
