Wow, I've got all kinds of questions today. Hope I don't wear out my welcome. My searches just don't seem to reveal specifics for my problem.
I am uploading an AVI file from my Canon point-and-shoot camera to my computer and it plays great, both picture and sound, in Windows Media Player. However, if I import it into Adobe Premiere elements, all the files look good in the media list, but when I try and play it in preview or monitor, I get sound but no picture. This has happened several times lately.
Also, I cannot import it into Windows Movie maker. The whole thing just locks up. Any idea as to why it won't work in either program? It is an AVI file and there have been times in the past when it would work.......:confused:
Thanks, Tom B.
Edit: Maybe I can answer my own question??? this might also explain ATRs earlier explanation;
Premiere Elements is a DV-AVI editor for MiniDV camcorders primarily, not DVD or HDD camcorders. You can switch to a program like Sony Vegas or MyDVD and it will make capturing your video easier, with Premiere Elements you will need to convert your files to DV-AVI. You can use the free program MpegStreamclip or another program like VideoRedo which is not free.
