I freed up 6 gigs of hard drive space with this tip (http://www.lightroomkillertips.com/2008/friday-tip-psds-and-drive-space/#comments) from Matt K!

Julie, thanks for that! I had noticed that a PSD was created whenever I went from LR into CS3, whether I did any edits or not. Wish it were smart enough to create a temporary PSD, then trash it if no changes were made in CS3. Maybe in some subsequent version of LR....;)

Rob, how about TIFF's? I think that was the LR default, at least when I loaded it up. They're on the big side as well...

nope, RAW & Jpegs. :) It's pretty clean but then again I have not had LR too long...I'm sure I'll need this tip in the future.:p

That's odd, Rob. Maybe you've never done "Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments"?

I do not have LR, but I just did a search on my hard drive for PSD files, and found I have 1,965 files that equal 20,190,312,102 bytes! Yikes! Is that 20GB??

You got me beat. I am only up to 12 GB and I don't have lightroom. 2 GB on C and 10 GB  on I. I just ran a a dos command from the root of each drive. Can't say that I am surprised because those PSD's are huge.
C:\dir *.psd /s
I:\dir *.psd /s
So I don't know what may have been required for some of the programs I use on C.
For those who don't know dos and want to try it this way:
Run cmd (the run command is on the start menu for XP)
cd\
dir *.psd /s
If you have multiple drives for example D.
D:
cd\
dir *.psd
