Hooray for you, Sherry :D ! I can't wait until Friday to see what we've all come up with!

I hope a lot of folks do this-I almost didn't-wasn't sure I could come up with anything very good, but decided to take a shot anyway and have some fun. I ended up having a blast with my mask! Figured out some new tricks along the way as well, you know, those happy accidents! I really hope that all the newest members join in as well. Sometimes I think you just have to close your eyes and jump!

Boo!

Carol ...

Doing something like this really stretches you and makes you think of new ideas ... its a really good way to learn new things.

So, does one have to enter in order to see the entries? As some of you may have read an earlier thread I posted in recently, I'm still a little fuzzy on masks. Not exactly sure (a) how to get started, or (b) what, exactly is expected, or (c) what, exactly to do with a mask.

Hmm...might have to wait till the next one rolls around.

Hi Mike,
This "mask" is a Halloween mask---there's a contest for subscribers---are you a subscriber??? If so it's the paragraph on the first page of Subscriber's page.

Hey, I'm still trying to figure those other masks too!!!!

Hi Sherry-

Yep, I subscribe, and I read the contest details. Having no experience with masks, though, I'm still feeling a bit in the dark. And it's spooky.

Oh, Mike! After you see the one I did ( ) you'll feel fine about anything you turn in  I started out totally clueless as to how to create something from nothing, but I experimented, had fun, and turned in my crazy attempt. I didn't want to be left out of the party fun.

Mine turned out extremely strange to see the least, but hey it's Halloween. ANYTHING goes, so jump in and go for it. You won't get anywhere if you never try! It's always a lot of fun to see everyone's ideas. While being given little instruction always seems to scare us, it also is what makes it the most fun for viewing because everyone has a different interpretation.

OK, you all convinced me. I'm working on it...

I did a large portion of it this evening with my 3-year-old sitting on my lap. That made for some interesting times. But actually, it was rather fun. He helped me make decisions on the color of the eyes...

Hopefully I can get it done by Thursday. There's this small matter of a job...

:)

Sherry,

Ya Hey! You got your done. I still haven't started one and it's due tomorrow. A major distraction is still interfering with my concentration and I can't get it off my mind. At least until Nov 7 when I see a specialist for pain management. It's been 2 year and the pinched nerves in my back are still getting the band-aid treatment. Sherry, I was told Friday my problem is fibro myalgia and I need an antidepressant. Needless to say, I am one pissed off camper. I am not depress, I have cronic nerve pain. I am going to make this rheumatologist listen me if I have to stand on his chest and yell. :x

Eva

Wendy

Eva ...

You do that ... although you often find that rheumatologist do listen ... keep my fingers crossed that this one does :)

Eva,
I had last year for six months--a piched nerve/compressed disk in neck/shoulder area--could hardly move. I was in constant pain ( know you feel). They gave me pills & pills & tried to send me to physical thearpy---she couldb't find anything wrong with me. I could move everything--just was in constant pain. So the physical therapist said the only thing they could try was put me on a rack & try to stretch me--you know like one of those old torture racks. Well. that was Xmas eve & the next day I could barely move. Finally it just went away.
See what the Doc says but consider the antidepressants (a couple people in my family use them , it helps) My youngest brother almost died several years ago from a brain infection & now he is on them , it's a world of difference------that's another story.
Hang in there. :)
PS. When they stretched me I didn't get any taller!!!!

Sherry and Wendy,

Thank you both. I can't take antidepressants as they are poorly tolorated and metabolized. Acupuncture has help some but not enough. And there is a prexisting disability that complicates things. That pesky missing left arm.

I took matters under control this morning. The doctor who gave my the referal Friday was to be my new primary care doc. I wasn't comfortable with her so she does not get a second interview. Monday I interview another one. Sherry...I have 2 pair of rotated vetabra, one in my neck and the other between my shoulders. I'm not a good candidate for the traction you did, I have oesteoporious also. PT and neck traction have made the pain worse. Chiropractic and massage therapy are helping some. :)

Thank you both again for listening and your friendship. :D

Eva, I feel for you. When my second child was young I would get such stiff necks that I couldn't even lift her without pain. It would last for a minimum of a week, and kept reoccurring. I spent a furtune on the Chiropractor and that did nothing but break the bank account. In the end I ended up going to physiotherapy and learning some stretching exercises to do before bed. Most of my problems stemmed from the fact that my daughter until the age of 4 did not sleep through the night, and I have difficulty getting to sleep as it is. So it was a combination of the tension, tiredness, etc. Something as simple as turning my head could bring on a week of pain. So I know exactly how you feel and hope that you end up getting the relief that you need. It is not fun to have this kind of pain.

Hi Eva ...

Good idea changing Doctors ... if one doesn't suit you then its pointless staying with them. Find someome who listens and helps ... then stay with them.

Hang on in there and don't get down ... pm me if you want someone to talk to.

Take care

Sherry, Wendy and Pauline,

Thank you for your support. My concentration has been blown out like an over exposed photo (still have sense of humor). :) I should think about the day trip to Platville,WI on Saturday. It's the last Gathering of Nations for the season here. Before I take any photos I must ask an Elder what may be photographed. I have friends who are dancing after the Grand Entrance. :)

Want to see those pictures--lots of colors & action??? Sounds very cool.

Eva, I know what you mean about your concentration being blown. On top of that you are also dealing with the pain. Although it's very hard to do (I know because if somethings bugging me I have a heck of a time forgetting about it), sometimes the best medicine is to put it out of your mind and get absorbed in something. I finally managed to do that yesterday. I just played on elements and thought of nothing else. It does help take the edge off. And while it won't take away your pain, sometimes when you are absorbed in something the pain doesn't feel as great because you aren't concentrating on it. I hope it all works out with the new dr.

Eva, so sorry to hear about what you have been going through. It must be a terrible way to live. A similar situation happened to me about 15 years ago and it seemed that Doctors really didn't seem to take me seriously. I had finally had enough and the last Doctor I was sent to started giving me the same run-around. I literarily went through all stages of emotion all over him and his desk(I'm sure it wasn't a pretty sight) and that made him listen. 2 weeks later I was in surgery that lasted about 4 hours and the problem was finally taken care of. Sometimes Doctors need wake-up calls as to why they are actually Doctors.

Pauline

I think it's pretty sad when you have to go to that extreme to be taken seriously! My mother has had health issues and actually sometimes passes out when she's eating! On one occassion because of falling out of her chair, she broke her hand, ended up with a black eye and cuts on her face from her glasses and had a rug burn from the landing. STILL the Dr. wasn't taking this matter to seriously! You'd think she was drinking alcohol rather than sipping tea and eating breakfast! She has gone as far as going out of town to try another Dr. and still has not got any answers. They just keep giving her different pills! Her hand has never healed properly since it was broken. She's 70, and as we all know, you don't heal near as well or quickly after an injury.

Thanks Everyone,

I have finally scraped myself off the ceiling  . Had a real good massage therapy session this morning and am looking to Saturday. Forward!

Sherry...No doubt there will be a few Shaman at the Gathering and more than one Drumming Circle. My friend Lonnie is an Elder and knows healing herbs. She will dance in the Shawl Dance. :D :) I plan to take photos, eat and have a good time.

Jodi...If I have to I will be the patient from hell. I am well informed with material ready to print that will be handed to the doc with the question, "have you read this".

Pauline...For centuries doctors haven't taken women seriously. I had to be my Grandmother's advocate. I have complained to patient relation about doctors without caring whos toes got stepped on in the process. :x
