I am having a problem stacking photos with the E3 Organizer. Here is the senario:

If I "find" images by double clicking a Tag or dragging a Tag to the Find area at the top of the window then I don't have any problem selecting some of the displayed images and stacking them.

However, if I "find" images by either double clicking a Collection or dragging a Collection to the Find area at the top of the window then all of the options under the "Stack" menu are grayed out (including "Stack Selected Photos").

As a work-around, I guess I could just add a temporary tag to the images in the collection and sort them that way, but it just doesn't seem right to me that the way you sort (by tags or collections) should make a difference in the ability to stack some of the images. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi,

Did you ever received an answer as to why you were unable to stack? I have the same problem, when I right click a photo in the browser, it is all grayed out and won't let me stack.

I would appreciate any help.

Thank-you,

No, I haven't gotten any answers yet. I have Michael Slater's book about E3 Organizer so I'll go through that again to see if anything is mentioned about this. If I find anything I'll let you know.

In the mean time I have been filtering images by using tags instead of collections. If I filter using tags I am able to stack images in the orgnanizer's browser, but if I filter using collections I can't.

Well your better off than me because it still won't let me even stack tagged images! I just received this software and love it so far except for this glitch - I think I'm going to have to go out and get a book also - I'm thinking about "the photoshop elements 3 book for digital photographers" by Scott Kelby or "Photoshop Elements 3 for Dummies". Thank you for responding.

Roberta,
I just got another reply and the gentleman said I have to select more than one image before PE3 will stack. Thing is I can't figure out how to select more than one image - do you know how?

Roberta,

Try this because I did and it worked - yeah!

"Priscilla, try holding down the Ctrl key while you make your selections. That usually works in Windows applications, although I haven't tried stacks."

I think I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was trying to stack two different file types - one was a jpg image file and the other was a video clip MOV file.

Because the Organizer uses a frame from the video to represent the MOV file in the photo browser, I didn't realize that it was a video. Evidently Organizer doesn't allow you to stack MOV files with JPG's so the "Stack Selected Images" option was grayed out. Once I de-selected the MOV file I was able to stack the remaining images.
