After Elements6 has search for the missing files and the new location is found when I click on reconnect I get a window saying something like- not connected cause already in catalog. I don't understand what is happening. Why does it show as missing and then when I try to reconnect it says already in catalog.

How many of your files are marked as missing -- all, most, or just a few?

For a missing file, do right-click Show Properties. In the Properties - General pane, what is the file location that the Organizer shows for that missing file (e.g. c:\ellis\pictures\2001.07.09\20.jpg)? What is the actual location of that file?

Thanks for tryiing to help me. I THINK what has happened is I have a folder NOT watched by elements for ongoing scrapbooking work not finished.
When a project is finished I move it to a watched folder for back up.The mistake I did was while working in the unfinished folder I did check to have the printable versions included in the organizer when I saved as(.but not other work --full layers and for web work.) So these printable LO's got saved in the unfinished folder to organizer and then moved to the folder for back up too. After this was done I reorganized my folder structure to make backing up easier and either deleted or renamed the unfinished work original folder.I thought this was ok cause it is not a watched folder.
So trying now how to fix. I'm looking to make sure the missing file is indeed in the browser someplace else then considering deleted the missing file.
To answer your questions_ It is about 15 files and the properties says their are in the folder(not watched) that I deleted or renamed. They are in the folder I moved them into for backing up.So why can't I reconnect to the new location?

Let me test my understanding. You have a folder "unfinished", and in that folder you had files you were editing that weren't in the Organizer. For one file, say "f.psd", when you saved it you checked the editor option "Include in the Organizer". In Windows Explorer, you then moved "f.psd" to the "finished" folder, which is being watched by the Organizer, and then you deleted or renamed the "unfinished" folder.

If this is indeed what you did, then you should have two different copies of "f.psd" imported into your Organizer -- one in the "unfinished" folder and one in the "finished" folder (the one in the "finished" folder was added automatically because the Organizer is watching it). The one in the "unfinished" folder is now marked missing because you deleted/renamed that folder. But the one in the "finished" folder should still be in the Organizer. So when you try to reconnect unfinished\f.psd, the Organizer is telling you (accurately) that it is already in your catalog.

In the Organizer, try doing a Find > By Filename to find the copy of "f.psd" in the "finished" folder. If it's there (and not marked missing), then you can safely delete the other copy, unfinished\f.psd, from the Organizer.

Thank you for helping. That is what I did and it took me awhile to figure this out.! It helped to write it out in this post to precisely clarify in my mind what happened. Now I will follow through with your suggestion and make sure each file is in organizer & then delete the coordinating missiing one. Thanks again. This is such a great bunch of people here! :)It seems simplle enough now but at the time I was trying to back up and kept getting this message and didn't know why and couldn't reconnect it was frustrating. It has taken a bit of time to do this backup..lololol I think I LEARNED better to not save as and include in the organizer for things put in the unfinished unwatched folder.
