Wendy,
Took your advice and tried using the mask from Gant's Tools.
The photo below is my first try, it is not a good photo but was ideal for a play around.
The mask is a great tool and has given me some ideas for the future.
Thanks
Kev.

Hey Kev ...
That is just great ... a mask is just so powerful and once you are used to using masks they are so simple :)

Wendy,
Without your encouragement and help, I would still be thinking that masks were beyond my capabilities.

Hi kev & Wendy-
OK, new area for me: I sort of understand Masks, thanks to some of the tutorials in the Subscriber Area. Sort of.
Could you explain what in your picture was created using a mask? I'm still struggling to see how they are put into practice.
Thanks!

Hi Mike,
The original was taken in a kitchen with the girls mum in the background and surrouned with bits and pieces.
I duplicated the original (control - j) in windows then applied the masks layers from Grant's Tools.
Then I very carefully painted out the clutter using paintbrush with black paint. If you make a mistake you can switch to white and restore where you went wrong. Give it plenty of magnification, take your time and it's pretty easy to do.
Good luck if you try it.
Kev.
