View Full Version : transitions work on just video 1 clips, PE4

I have PE4 and when I apply a transition to a video clip, it just works on the video 1 track clips and not on other tracks. My first track is for my virtual stage, so track 2 is the actual video of me. When the transition happens, i.e. a curtain transition effect, the background does the transition and yet I remain without a transition, making the background seems fake in these moments. Also, the background will have other tracks that illustrate other clips and graphics in the background on the stage TV monitor areas, so I'd want them to also have the transition effect. I know I could take the entire clip and output it and then go back and cut and add in transitions, yet this is a lot of extra work and gig space. Can any one tell me how to have the transition affect all the layers? I have tried putting on “include source” in the individual transitions preferences and this made no difference.

Apply the same transition to all clips on all tracks.

A little additional information;
Apply the transition to the end of the clip on track one, then apply the same transition to the beginning of the clip on track 2.
Here is a very good description of How Transitions Work In Premiere Elements

Dan,
I will be back later with a more comprehensive response, but for now I thought that you might want to take a look at this tutorial from what I consider a "not just for kids" site:

I've looked at both links, it is not illistarting how to do what I've asked, so again, how exactly do I affect the other tracks? When I selct scene line it only shows the first track. So how do i select the tother tracks to put that or other transition effects on it?

You need to change to Timeline Mode.

Dan,
From your initial question, all I saw were tracks mentioned which I associated with the Timelime view, no mention of filmstrip which I would associate with Sceneline view.
So, what generated the Sceneline question?
The link that I posted was an initial quick try at approaching your issue. Where did it fail?
