PSE6 slideshow problem - can't see photos in play mode

I just installed PSE6 and PE4 (previously used PSE5 & PE3 with XP). I created a new slideshow but cannot see the photos in play mode - the audio is fine. I didn't have this problem in PSE5. I'm running Vista. Is this a known problem?
