View Full Version : Help...Had a problem deleting styles

I had asked this similar question in another thread, but thought I'd try again in a new one....

I tried adding some styles, but didn't load them correctly (moved a whole folder instead of the .asl file only). Now I realize I shouldn't have right clicked to delete these. I read in another thread I should have dragged them into the recycle bin. Oops.

Now I keep getting an error message in PSE6 when I try to apply any style setting and the program hangs up. My default styles are all still all there - didn't mess with them. To "fix" this or have it rebuild the default styles, is it the Photoshop Creations Metadata file that should be deleted?

Don't want to try this till someone can tell me for sure what to do so I don't make my problems worse!

Thanks in advance!

I don't have element 6, so I'm sorry I cannot help.
Can you do a systems restore and set things back before you deleted??

I was wondering if it were as simple as deleting the metadata file, but I guess no one else knows?

With all the versions of PSE, when I search the forums, what works for one version might not be right for another. I was hoping someone could help that is familiar with version6.

Paws,
Deleting the Metadata file shouldn't cause any problems, it will take a while to rebuild and may work to end your problem,
Kev.

Try deleting the MediaDatabase.db3 file. As Kev says, it will rebuild and maybe your deleted syles will reappear. Worked for me. Do you know the pathway to find it?

Thanks Guys!

Bayla: Yes, but I was confused as to whether to delete the metadata file or the MediaDatabase.db3 file. I deleted the MediaDatabase.db3 file and everything seems to be working fine now.

Thanks again for your help (and please excuse this newbie's ignorance :)!! This was my first time to play around with styles. Next time I'll be a bit more careful.
