When I opening documents in PSE5 it defaults to the "List" and I would like it to default to "Thumbnails". Can anyone tell me how to change this default? Thanks.

Hi mltarpley,
go to file open, in the window that opens, click on the
folder icon with the downward pointing arrow, that then
gives you an option of tiles, thumbnails, icons etc. Hope
this solves your problem.

If that doesn't work it's probably because your pictures aren't in the Windows My Picture folder or sub-folders or they are on another drive. Nothing you can do about that I'm afraid as it's a Windows quirk. Not sure if it got changed in Vista.

Tony:
That's the problem! I moved all of my picutres and digi scrapbooking stuff to my EHD. Would you suggest that I move them back? I'm just trying to be secure if my computer crashes. Thanks.

I'm not sure that moving to an EHD makes them more secure. EHD's are just as likely to crash as internal HD's. You should always have a back-up and preferably back-up CD's/DVD's of important pics.
That said you don't have to use File Open in the PSE editor to open files. You can use the Organizer that does show all the thumbnails or you can use Windows Explorer (where the thumbnail view is sticky). Just right click and open with PSE5. Or use something like Picasa which I find quite useful for having thumbnails of everything on your system and being able to easily open anything in Elements.
